First commute for me since Mid ….. DECEMBER!! Not sure I’ve gone much more than a week before.
Im a sucker for routine, but seeing pot holes appearing overnight, the constant wet/flooded roads and the darkness hiding it all just didn’t have the nerve to bother.
Was very much just like riding a bike from 2025…
Slow AF
Almost hit by the first car overshooting a junction (fast becoming my pet hate)
Windy AF (dont get that on the turbo do you)
Pothole bonanza - few craters out there but its the ruts that seem to catch me.
On a positive at least the light soon broke through and the road was almost dry.

The roads have been wrecked by the weather. I find some of the worst are the where the roads have been previously dug up by utility companies and not replaced properly

I’ve been commuting by bike all the way through, but I haven’t been out for a “proper” weekend bike ride this year.
I’m getting too old to want to go out in the rain on bad roads
