Are they waterproof? I’m using a pair of DHB overshoes, must be at least 5 years old, the rain is now soaking in. My shoes and socks were very wet this morning. Time for an upgrade

No, but imo waterproof=worthless. Maybe your experience differs from mine but i dont believe being warm and dry on the bike through winter is reality

Winter means getting wet and cold, the gear is more a question of how quickly it loses the water, and how warm you remain. Neoprene overshoes work the same way a wetsuit does. Toasty when dry, otherwise wet and relatively warm.

Good shout, warmer would be good. I lose the feeling in my feet after an hour😬

Another f**king dire weather forecast… 0.20 mm of rain due… and the roads were flooded. Decided to leave half my kit on under my suit to try and dry it out (office temperature is so low evaporation isnt likely).

Will that not make everything wet, and give you crotch rot?

And stink! :joy:

Thinks he’s Clark Kent

Lol. Not got bibs on. Arm n leg warmers n socks.
Hat and gloves currently being toasted on the laptop.

Haha I have got me specs on in the office. Yes, never thought how fast I’ll get changed later. Winning!

Fresher this morning. Off with the over-socks, on with the over-shoes.

Yes, it’s been chillier since yesterday, five degrees here.

I have Dissent 133 gloves and am a bit disappointed for the money, they are very expensive, even after I got a 15% discount after buying some Hunt wheels (Mason hunt 4 seasons, very pleased with them).

On the good side, they are very warm. Not sure I’ve ever needed all 3 layers, even in freezing conditions - that’s on a 20 mile commute.
On the bad side:
Wearing all 3 layers makes dexterity a real problem. My hands are in the middle of the medium size range but I literally couldn’t brake with all 3 layers. Had to swap for large which are somewhat floppy with just the outer layer or outer + silk liner
They leak.
Already had to replace outers as stitching went in first winter
I would give them 2/5

I like the look of the Galibier gloves that Doonhammer recommended. I have one of their winter jerseys and it’s very good as well as excellent VFM

PX overshoes here - simple, warm & very little to go wrong. First pair lasted 10 years, just bought a second for £15. As far as I can see there hasn’t been a single design change in 10 years

Started commuting again this week. Missed summer due to injury. Usually CTW right through winter. Was bloody chilly this morning though. Using over shoes and helmet liner already.

It was fairly light in Mid March for commuting.

Sadly at Ostrich we don’t often leave before 6pm so getting home in daylight didn’t happen pre-lockdown

How is your boss coping with the new normal?

Up to last Friday he was trying to get everyone to go back in for at least 2 days a week, received short shrift from most of my team! Not been in since lockdown 2 was announced so will have to see in a week’s time, don’t forget it’s only mild flu-like illness

Bit nippy this morning but no ice. My first ride in weeks, and my first proper ride since IMVR.

Went with flat pedals and trainers on my steel horse. Three layers up top and a cap under the helmet.
