Commuting & Winter Riding Thread

to the shops/into my garden haha!

Saw a few really good carbon bikes out today with deep rims, and what looked like a brand new Willier, really nice bike TBH.

Roads were quite dry but still a bit of crap left on them so I’m not sure I’d have fancied using my best bike yet.

I stuck with the Enigma and mudguards.

The Ecroix, with Ultegra, Rotor chainrings and Zipp 303 FCs?
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

So a “better” bike than most people’s “best” summer bikes?

Although, in saying that I spotted three standout bikes today; a flat/Matt orange Isen, rider was descending at 40mph and flew off into the distance as we were driving at 30mph.
Green Parlee gravel bike. Totally filthy.

Haha, the Zipp’s have been replaced with a £100 set of RX31’s and mudguards. It’s also got no front mech and the chain kept going onto the small ring

But it has got a Rotor SRM on it to remind me how weak I am :slightly_frowning_face:

Phwoar - that’s some wind out there

Particularly enjoyed the pained expression on people’s faces travelling in the opposite way.

Hopefully it dies down during the day so I don’t have to crawl home through it

Yeah, it woke me up a few times throughout the night :worried:

I’ve got an opticians appointment & 3 bottles of Aber Falls gin to pick up today, so was quite happy to drive in this morning

Hopefully a full on taily for your return this evening.

We live in hope - highly doubt it though!!

When i (occasionally) ride or run into work it’s quite normal to get the double headwind. Apparently something to do with the warmer/colder air inland compared to at sea, so the air effectively gets pulled up (or down) the river.

Not sure if that’s true or not, but certainly sounded plausible when someone explained it to me!

I’m right on the east coast and quite regularly get headwind one way and cross/headwind the other, always makes one of my mate laugh as his commute is the opposite direction so he quite often gets it good in both directions!

Back for one day only due to all-day power cut at home.

Went into the office for a meeting. My Euston - Office bike has been stripped by the scallywags.

How long has it been there?

No locks through the wheels then; or have they been cut?

Since March last year

No. It didnt have quick release. I never had time to deal with it. March 16th we were told to take our laptops home. 2 hours later we were told to not return to the office and then here we are.

I had planned on super gluing ball bearings in the hex bolts but never got round to it.

It was a 40 quid piece of shit.

Tbh, you’ve probably saved a f* ton on commuting costs to replace it?!

About 6k so far. Could buy myself a sweet carbon number.

If it’s been out in the open for 15 months it’d probably not be roadworthy anyway.

I was saving loads in the winter during Lockdown; but now things are opening up and we can go places, that ain’t happening.
