Ooh winters on its way.
Deployed layer 1 of winter kit today.

I need some new winter gloves. Chilly today, even in Laandan. I hate buying stuff like this from the interwebs though as its a bit of a lottery, and the shops don’t carry much of a range.

What did you go for?

I’m thinking the overshoes and neoprene gloves will make their first appearance tomorrow morning.

Added buff.
Carnac Roubaix gloves swapped for Specialized deflect plus liner
Roubaix bibs and knee warmers dropped for full bib tights
Planet x socks dropped for the Woolie Boolies

Got it just about spot on. Tho thighs a bit fresh - realised was actually a layer of material down there. Carnac bib tights aren’t the thickest.

DHB thermal bibs are decent, had a pair of aereon roubaix, only replaced as i had an off in them and they shredded, the classics were much cheaper so replaced with those a couple years back, maybe not quite as thick but still “roubaix” material and still more than warm enough! I put some baggies over the top for commuting also which adds a second layer to the top part.

Yeah I’ve got them in the shorts version - which when coupled with knee warmers are great. I always find the first few cold rides a steep learning curve - not least remember what kit I have available

I got Altura Roubaix thermal ones from Evans.
They’ve lasted absolutely years.

For non-commuting it’s Rapha or Castelli.

I gave up on the Smelly’s when I found PX did a cheap merino underlayer, the two LS ones have lasted over 10 years. The SS ones are not so durable though.

The PX Merinos are good, I’ve got a couple but only hoik them out when it’s properly cold.

I actually really like the bog standard PX base layers - specifically the SS version. Seem to have a really wide range of temp usage and they hold arm warmers in place - where so many other base layers fail (I appreciate the arm warmer should hold itself up - but doesnt always seem to be the case).

Cold weather is killing my go pro battery tho. Losing about 25% recording time. Gutted they dont still make the session.

The PX ones are £40 at the mo. just did some searching, as i need a new one, and Wiggle have the dhb one (100% merino) for £30 at the moment.

That can go on the xmas list!

yer they were nowhere near that price when I got them, probably Brexit  The SS ones i remember as being a tenner as I bought 4 so that Id have some for a few years.

DHB do look decent and £30 , report back here as I almost considered them. Most of my commuting gear is DHB now, cheap, and decent quality generally.

I’ve now spent the last hour and half looking for gloves FFS

Decathlon too.

I’ve always found their stuff to last an epoch.

10 year guarantee on most stuff, too.
Keep the label tag thing and your receipt, then take it back.

I’ve done it a few times, much to the managers chagrin :see_no_evil:

“Oh, but we don’t make these anymore”
“ that’s okay, you can either replace it with a similar item, or refund me. But I no longer have that card, so a gift card is fine, as I’ll just be buying the equivalent item again :grimacing:

galibier, that was it, I knew there was something on here recommended before and the Roubaix look ideal (not sure I could pull off leather gloves  ) , and only £16, cant go wrong.

… but you’re from London and drive a Range Rover if i recall? Surely a cap and leather gloves are standard?!

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I do have the Galibier waterproof which seems pretyt decent off the back of Doony’s recommendation. Typically haven’t had to use it yet!!
