Land Rover dear boy, not one of those Chesire chav mobiles ![]()
Pfft.
G-Wagens, Lam Trucks and Bentleys these days.
RR-SVR is ** so ** 2017
Thanks for sharing this.
As it now feels like winter I got the Sealskins out and in fairly light rain they leaked. Disappointing given the price and age of them.
I’ll have a look at the Galibier site.
I do like that
Have fun
I hope you put some gloves on and you’re not one of those weirdos who rides in all weather with bare hands
This is @Poet we’re talking about.
He probably puts gloves on to do the washing up
Bailed out of cycling into work this morning, now I can work equally well from home there really is no point getting soaked/blown all over road for nothing.
But I still feel like a wimp and I’m sure you’ll be along to reinforce that shortly
Nah.
I was far too warm
Last night.
And yes, I wore gloves.
got my Galibier Roubaix, nice, but more a coldish, but not really cold long glove. maybe those colder spring / autumn or warmer winter days, have ordered some Barrier gloves as well now. I’m going to be a Galibier ambassador at this rate.
So my ride home tonight has brought an end to toe warmer season.
Overshoes from now on

There’s moments I miss the bike commute and then I look at the weather today and think thank fuck I’m out of it
Surprisingly warm this morning. Was expecting it to be freezing. 3 layers was over doing it a bit!
There’s a pair of HUUB Iron Thermal Bib Tights on SportPursuit down from £180 to £80. I don’t have a pair of tights, and was looking at getting the DHB Aeron Roubaix off Wiggle for £75 (down from £90) with Santa money before I saw these. Are they much of a muchness? I usually go for the bigger discounted option but wondering if the Huubs are never actually £180, or not worth that amount. Any strong feelings one way or the other?
I had a pair of DHB thermal bib tights a few years ago, I thought they were quite good for the money, only gripe was the calf zips were useless and kept splitting, seem to be very cheap. But that was a while ago and they might use better ones now.
Can’t really comment on HUUB though.
There’s a Rapha sale tomorrow but I’ll be surprised if there’s any winter kit included, there’s are worth the money.
Quote often what you find on cheaper kit is cheap shitty zips, and they’re crap as you’ve mentioned.
Worth trying to find stuff with branded (e.g. YKK) zips as they are much better
Decided to invest in some winter riding kit because I don’t have much, just an old windproof long sleeve Jersey.
On wiggle and their sale makes prices look good. Git some stuff in basket but not sure of the difference.
Dhb flashlight tights vs dhb classic thermal tights
Dhb Merino long sleeve Jersey vs dhb aeron thermal Jersey
Dhb aeron shorts vs dhb blok
Think I just need one set of cold weather gear. If I get a warm jersey do I also need a long sleeve base layer or jacket as well?
Already got gloves and toe covers (thinking about full overshoes as well).
Any advice?
Overshoes are good, but winter boots are even better, any offers on for those? The problem with overshoes on top of normal shoes is they have holes in for breathability and so water still gets in.
When I commuted on bike I used a decent cycling jacket and just normal long sleeve jersey underneath. Arm warmers and shortleeve jerseys are find with a jacket as well. I have a trail running waterproof that rolls up to a coke can size that I carried in the side pocket of my bag for when it pisses it down.
I think its worth having 2 pairs of tights if you are going everyday. They will get wet and filthy and its hassle washing and drying them every day
