My run is southwark bridge to Westminster then back parallel to the south bank, 4 miles. Can loop up to Buck Palace and back to make it about 6 miles

I used to commute by those boats.

Feels like a different century.

Boat to myself before the sun came up, newspaper as I got on. Two minutes walk to the office at the other end.

It did stink of vegetable oil though…

Procrastinating prepping for commute tomorrow.

Patched up my collapsing cleats
Found my spare tube
Found a spare 23mm Gatorskin (have not mounted it) a bit thin for a touring bike
Weighed up using the TT bike instead
Charging front light
Washing/Drying shirt
Only one long fingered glove

I’ll end up getting the train again FFS, god I hate the commmuter train. Maybe I’ll run the 23km instead. :brain::exploding_head:

Edit: Got my shit together and left late On the Ragged Roadie.

It’s no wonder there’s so much hatred out there. First 3 bikes I passed today (not cyclists - but joe bloggs in a car doesn’t differentiate I imagine)…

  • all black clothing :white_check_mark:
  • riding no handed :white_check_mark:
  • texting away on mobile :white_check_mark:

There’s me, double lights front and back, red and fluro kit - still paranoid every car WILL pull out on me.

I totally agree that the above mentioned cyclists do us no favours, but I have a grudging respect for those that can light & smoke a cigarette while on a bike.

I can barely manage to write a text without a ton of typos sat on my sofa with my specs on.

So yeah - texting whilst coping with the state of our roads is Britains Got Talent material :joy:

There was a big old boat on the river when I walked in this morning.

I reckon if they took a run at it from there they could just about squeeze under London Bridge too :rofl:

I’ve only got a 15/20min commute, but I couldn’t have ended up any wetter this morning.

16degC though :exploding_head:

My office is now like Widow Twankey’s laundry :grinning: .

VERY weird here - back in summer kit but running full lights.
Wind was lovely till I turned into it. Naturally that was the point the rain started for me - fortunately not too heavy tho.

Not looking forward to the return leg!

And they will.

Because they are also texting and driving no handed, some of them eating bowls of cereal or having a hand shandy. No amount of dayglo and Christmas lights can protect you from the drivers who just don’t care.

Actually hating the commute at minute.
Just a combination of everything but getting home so stressed.
Wind, low in your face sun, wet, rutted roads, every pass to close, oblivious traffic.

Came home in a right mood despite missing the downpour!

I’m wondering about longer routes and getting on the road earlier/leaving earlier. Any options that make it more enjoyable really.

Mine is pretty good, but still there’s two or three spots of shite I could do without over the coming months.

I’m highly limited with how I get across the river. Kind of dictates my route options.
The alternative route should be better, but it’s single track with numerous incidents of hit and runs.

Be happier when I’m not doing journeys in dusk and dawn.

I can cycle out to woolwich and cross there but it adds a half hour, or 50%. And is awkward: Cycle bridge and foot tunnel.

Ive followed the river path from Rotherhithe to Greenwich a few times, relaxed but seems to take forever and the quietway makes a nice change although typically i just want to get home as quickly as possible and the morning i havent time to waste

Great day for a guardless roadie

Great day to start not wrapping your clothes in a plastic bag

Had a limo procession come past Friday night - not sure what the rush was for the first 2. Can’t say there seemed to be many occupants (if any) so don’t know if it was race back to HQ!
Nice close pass by the pick up in the middle - it edged past like it was in a movie.

Guy a saw getting knocked his bike has got himself some justice - can’t believe the car driver went all the way to court tbh

Maybe that’s given him enough penalty points to earn him a driving ban and that’s why he contested it in court? :man_shrugging:
