I’ve settled on a Raceblade at the back and a Gravelhugger at the front. Raceblades require a bit of fettling to get set up but then go on and off the bike in seconds. Great protection at the back from Raceblades but I found I was still getting crap thrown up off the front wheel into my face (and into the cavity in the fork crown) because the front Raceblade is only behind the fork. Gravelhugger solves that and is also on and off in seconds. My bike does have massive clearance on the front fork though; not sure how much you need but the gravelhugger is quite wide, and won’t work with rim brakes. Think SKS also do Raceblade Longs and other things that might cover that front wheel issue.

I’d not taken the proper light off yet this year anyway - which was fortunate after being kept mega late Friday.
Didn’t help with the absolute sh1t show of drivers out there either. First time I’ve ever sent footage off, would have sent a 2nd had the number plate been clear and the taxi driver flashing a car into me only got a pass as he gave me a fair amount of space afterwards!
Today didn’t start much better either. Tho surprised it was still nice and bright at 7am - so I’ll be ditching the big light after today!

I had a woman pull out in front of me this morning then immediately brake to let a parent and two children cross the road. I slowed then moved back ahead of the car, obviously stopping to let the family cross.
Set off, car overtakes me then slows, window opens and this women starts ranting on how I should have stopped (I did) “especially for the child”
I don’t know what this women thought she experienced but I swear people just see cyclist and think fuck it I’m having a rant at you.

Most definitely this. When I pootle on the cycle path, I go steady, give loads of room and warning. But some people, and you can spot them a mile off, are just determined to have a go.

I stopped for a woman at a zebra crossing once and she just stood there and said “I know you’re not going to stop” 
I was already stopped with my foot down, so I don’t know why she thought I was then going to run her down if she started crossing. She was probably just used to idiot cyclists who don’t stop for crossings and it hadn’t registered in her head that I wasn’t moving

It’s definitely getting worse out there. Had some huge BMW SUV first try and Tbone me this morning, then after they aborted that manoeuvre went with the left hook 100metres up the road.
Did you see the video and subsequent police interview of the lady who shoved the pensioner into the road who died? She couldn’t have come across any different.
Edit: oh she didnt touch her. Still got done mind.

I handles like a juggernaut. Feels like it would go straight through some of the cheap garbage you see on four wheels out there…sadly it would not protect this mortal frame as it did though.

15 years I’ve been commuting. 14 without accident. Same route.
Everything used to be predictable… From the abysmal driving to the lemming pedestrians.
They all seem to have taken it up a notch. If I wasn’t so risk averse I’d be having daily offs.
And not a single person looks. Don’t want give any fucking clues away do they. Nope I’m just completely changing direction, for no reason, ready, ready…NOW! Deal with that mofo.
Least it wasn’t blustery as hell spicing the danger level up a notch.
