They’re not actually trying to harm you. They’re just trying to get that Landcruiser from A to C at 120kmh. You’re at B.
Anyone for some what happened next?
First up…we’ve got Granny on a trike in hi viz. Cycle path only available on one side of the 60mph carriageway.
She has been stopped at the junction to the golf course. She is on the right hand side of the path as I approach (on the left).
Shout of “Fore”, golf ball direct hit to the head, out cold for 30 seconds?
(I hope this doesn’t end with you on the tarmac, but have a bad feeling…)
You pass and scare the shit out of her and get a load of verbal
Nah - I’m so risk averse I just expect literally everything to wipe me out. Always covering the brakes and slowing down. It’s no wonder my commutes are so slow (good excuse anyway).
This one I just didnt predict AT ALL.
go on, give us a clue
Swallowed by a massive sink hole?
Sorry times up…
Full U turn without looking to join the carriageway going the opposite way to which she’d just rode ![]()
I was expecting her to deviate to the left side of the path - so I was all set to veer left and go around. So when she then went hard left - bit of a woah moment!
Yikes. Could have wiped you out easily.
Is Ruddington Gran Golf Club just for elderly females, or can anyone play?
Is there a bloody dog on the back too?
It’s so easy to think they’re nutters but they’re so blissfully unaware of anything else around - mind boggling really - I see shit like this a lot
Some people are completely clueless or ignorant of what is around them, even though it can cause them problems!
Why does she have a basket and then a bag dangling from the handlebars.
The one later doesnt show up well on video. Split path, but on ped sides theres 2 massive trees (tho you can walk through gap). Runner coming other way with a double running buggy (no way she can fit).
Ped in front of me, on the ped side, walking towards the trees - turns 45 degrees, straight infront of me and blocking the woman coming the other way.
I don’t get the thought process - they must be thinking something to change direction!?!?
I didn’t think to ask at the time
It is where she keeps her nutrition for a Maurten Move
I hate riding on cycle paths. People seem to turn their brains off when they think they are safe from being hit by cars and don’t seem to think that they have to worry about other cyclists. I ended up with a broken collarbone and 3 broken fingers after a woman on a Boris bike decided that the red light didn’t apply because she was on a bike lane and didn’t seem to think that she needed to look out for other cyclists who might not have expected her to do what she did.
I haven’t commuted by bike since before my shoulder op in September last year. If this new job comes off I’ll be commuting to Knightsbridge a couple of times a week. The cycle lane through Vauxhall and Victoria is the most direct route, but it looks like Wacky Races at peak times, so I’m looking at alternatives. For the journey home at least I think I’ll go Zwift London and head down to Sloan Square and onto the Embankment
3 flat tyres on my commute home just now.
Was fine this morning, but when I got my bike to ride home front tyre was flat. Changed tube, couldnt see any obvious nail in tyre, cracked on.
3km in, carrying a bit too much speed after a road crossing I went straight into the raised concrete base of a traffic sign in the middle of the sidewalk. Pure pilot error but rim pinch puncture, tube destroyed.
Only carry 1 spare but luckily I had the old tube in Jersey pocket, got out the glue and patch and fixed it.
6km in, front wheel flat again. Thought the patch had failed but no, patch was good, it was another puncture.
Checked the tyre really carefully, there was an almost invisible thorn which I guess caused the original puncture & which I must have missed. Used last remaining patch, thankfully this held and made it home. Not the most fun. Another puncture and I’d have been phoning the broom wagon. Personal worst!
I had 3 punctures on a ride once, 2 at the same time hitting a hole on a steep descent that I thought was a shadow.
Then again, riding in the Berwyns is a bit of a puncture lottery, made up for by some of the best scenery around
Am I assuming you have (and use) a bell?
The number of close shaves and arguments I have dropped very significantly when I started binging rather than saying excuse me
Bell. Yes and no.
Take it off in winter as handle bar space is a premium and the power of the sun normally gets attention.
But I need to add it back on now.
Looks like she was almost up on 2 wheels!
