Cycling caps are a godsend for winter riding, Jorgan is on crack.
Are they? The traditional cotton ones? They get wet, don’t dry out, don’t cover your ears and obscure your vision.
IMHO they are an anachronism sported by fashionistas. The only time I wore one was in summer before helmets became de rigeur; so early to mid 90s.
I love 'em - got a fair few now.
Keeps the sun out of my eyes and the rain, plus it stops my massive hair going all over the place.
Great in summer, great in winter.
I can’t see what is wrong with them?
On colder days, I’d sooner wear a buff or skully, but that’s to keep my ears warm
On sunny cold days, a peaked merino beanie is the way forwards.
The peak forces a nice flat back, head up position.
I look an utter bell end if I wear one of those caps, my 7yr old on the other hand looks cool as when he wears them!

Yeah, but 7 year olds look cool in nearly anything
Don’t get me wrong, I tried, but it didn’t work for me on practical grounds; much like you wouldn’t want to wear a baseball cap in a ‘tactical’ situation
Yeah, but as all the fashionistas keep moaning, baseball caps are creeping in, in fact
has a baseball cap sized brim…
I cannot imagine wearing that under a helmet! I think the baseball cap moans are about on the Podium yes?
If the rain is so hard you can’t see properly through your clear lenses, you’ll be grateful for a cycling cap, peak down.
I read that article earlier! Remember that I tried a cap in the rain, and found the lack of vision more of a hindrance.
Yeah you said peripheral vision which didn’t make sense to me, did you mean with your head down, “looking up” down the street?
If your vision is obscured by rain anyway, the peak helps amazingly. If it’s not being obscured anymore you just flip the peak.
The article has a pic with Straussy wearing it properly.
I cannot remember seeing Sagan, Boonen, Cancellara, Valverde et al wearing cycling caps. Case closed.
I wore a cap on an audax once. I can confirm that I looked a complete tool. Very frustrating as most other people seem to look cool with them. I think my head’s too narrow or sommat…
Yes, they are very popular with middle aged blokes who still live their parents

Even I wore a cap (sometimes) before helmets were commonplace. I’m sure Pantani preferred the bandana though.
Yeah, first image is a bandana, I think? But you can’t see the reverse.
