Commuting & Winter Riding Thread

I had an 8:30 call that I had to be in the office for today and ended up leaving home 5 minutes later than planned, but I had one of those magical mornings when I hit every light between my house and Buckingham Palace (2/3rds of the way to work) on green and arrived at the office 5 minutes early :sunglasses:

What did someone say about tri spokes and disc wheels on commuters?

(One of these is mine. One is not)

Looks like a genuine Hed3 or even a Spesh tri-spoke!

Very heavy chain round the frame but nothing through the wheels, which are both quick release and probably worth more. Very poor locking technique, unlike Mr Poet

Nah, nobody wants tubs these days

Thanks
Mine are bolts, too :see_no_evil:

I really like my fixie. I’m hoping she never dies

Feels like already transitioning from summer :pensive:
Temp was lovely, but certainly a drop from where it has been. Sun mega low and annoying on my Easterly commute.

Was going to post this on the weather thread, my car said 10c this morning but rose to 12 in the town.

Sun is definitely taking longer to warm things up and will be in our eyes soon.

I was wondering how I ever used to get out of a lake at that time and later then cycle in Lycra

Sigh

Aye, 8degC here this morning.

All of a sudden the idea of a 13km OW swim in September doesn’t seem like such a good idea :joy:

Warmer in the water than out.

Yeah, pretty warm here, but I’ll have to dig the lights out for the ride home soon

I’m running lights all year round now. Regardless of commute or Sunday ride.
Probably overkill so much, but on rides like this morning when I’m riding direct into the sun - it can only help motorists behind.

They are mandatory for TT’s

Yeah it got a tad sketchy at the start in the unexpected fog! But luckily that lifted after a bit!

Rained all night & still windy this morning with leaves and twigs all over the road, so automatically put jacket on to cycle in this morning; big mistake, sweating like a pig by the time I got into work.
Fortunately for everyone here, I sit in a room on my own.

I was tempted by the 45mph tailwind in - but the rain was enough to deter me.
So glad I did - SO much debris on the way in. Combined with wet roads and the wind wouldve been an unnecessary risk.

Another weird weather morning, 18c but a bit of drizzle in the air so do you:
a. Wear a jacket for the rain but sweat like a pig?
b. T-shirt for the 18c but get wet from the drizzle?

Went for b. as it was the less smelly option and it was actually quite pleasant. The rain wasn’t really enough to get wet but had quite a nice cooling effect.

Get wet every time.

26° here :sunny::beach_umbrella::bikini:
