Cotswold 113 #halfIRONWAR

I’d cook in a Gabba!

Well hello there. After being awol from the forum, the pool, my bike and my run kit for a long time I’ve decided to turn up on Sunday anyway.

Very nearly sold my bike and all my kit a few weeks ago after my ongoing mental breakdown but I started commuting to work by bike and am starting to get some enjoyment back. As much as I enjoyed Mallorca my head went again as soon as I got back.
It would have been my best mate’s birthday the week after and I still can’t get used to him not being here.

Can’t fit in my new wetsuit or my trisuit but I have my ‘old’ wetsuit and can change kit in T’s.
I was thinking about leaving my TT bike at home due to how stupid I’ll look going so slow but it’s the fastest option.

Anyway I’ll be there, wobbling round. I plodded 13 miles in 2:05 last Thursday which is as depressing as it gets but I think I’ll be more upset if I don’t come down.

Enjoy the race and the race within the race. I’ll probably be the slow as fk guy on a Giant Trinity with bike kit and a normal helmet on.

I came back in 2014
I had been doing lots of training, weights and boxing mostly.
I was nearly 90 kg with comedy arms and chest,
5 years later I’m under 70 and got a pb in a 70.3 on Sunday.

No pressure for Sunday, enjoy the race and you ll get faster for sure.

We’ve all lost … it’s shit, live your life for them.

Cheers. Just need to find some discipline. No more events after IMUK so no pressure, just going to enjoy myself for the rest of the year and see what happens.

Noooooooo

5:20/km was a MASSIVE effort this morning.
I’m going to buy ALL OF BOOTS in a moment

@Poet l’ve had a mild cold before a few races, hasn’t affected my performance on race day. Don’t panic, some of it will literally be psychosomatic as you’ve not raced a Half in ages and are hyped up/nerves :slightly_smiling_face: :+1:

Does anyone else feel worse when they’ve had a lie in? I always feel crap when I get up on Saturdays. Like I’ve been drugged

I did share a bottle of red last night, in fact I drink every Friday night…:yum: It’s just the change in routine.

No!!! I always feel much better waking up naturally, albeit only 5-10 minutes after the normal alarm would’ve gone off.

I had a cheeky pint of shandy in the clubhouse last night. It was a bit chilly down here this morning when i walked to the shop but the sun is trying to come out now.

I’ve had my first sleep in for a few weeks and still not awake yet, but I’ve had two fairly big days the last two.
Good luck everyone, I’ll try and look for the results tomorrow, hope the cold is better Poet, as Jorgan says I had a sniffly sore throat for most of the week between Chicago mara and IM Lou last year, but it didn’t develop, although it was probably a good job I didn’t get tested!

Hope it’s drier than when I did it as well, 2016 I think, got the yips on the bike but put a decent run is as a result.
