Cotswold 113 #halfIRONWAR

That’s the alloy bodied small turbo one.
?
I’ll probably get a boxster in that shape next, the interiors are beautiful on those.

You can’t fit a bike in them and the SUVs look dog rough :face_vomiting:

Back to the event…nice Morning efforts on the run for me, then a midday “training” session to get some fivers for the farmer and BTF.
Also got my Ibuleve and codeine

Just as a heads up, I’ve noticed this ridewithgps version of the route is different from the mapmyride version. Specifically around Down Ampney at approx 29 / 73km and also the ridewithgps version is short of going around the roundabout at 8 and 52km.

I’ll just follow the leaders, as I won’t be coming out of the swim in 25 mins!

Apparently the turn by RAF Fairford (Kempsford) around a triangular grass island is a bit rough, so caution was advised by the chap I know who recce’d the course. The only bit of the new course I’ve never ridden is the first out & back by the A419, but that’s very straightforward from what I’ve seen of it.

Fricking ridewithgps :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
Cheers - much appreciated, I’ll have a Zoom right in

@Poet PMd you

Well…what a huge 30 second difference that made - LOL!
However, the original had missed the only “hill” on the course up to RAB

Matt, I’m still expecting you to do the etape the week before, it will be fun honest

Did I tell mention about the time I did a 140K ride the week before an IM, and then PB’d

Jeff

Chest, belly, legs and face now shaved = 3W
Nutrition is all packed.
Wetsuit repairs have been completed - the Black Witch is curing.
Helmet is polished
Bike has been cleaned.
Waiting to decide if I should put the new chain on?

Got a short run and maybe a bike planned in for tomorrow (bike is weather dependant and if I CBA when I arrive at Swindon)

Are you doing a Mike Pigg and going topless then? :upside_down_face:

I shave for the pool - and don’t like the stubble poking through the trisuit

DQ for topless/unzipping these days, isn’t it?

I cannot remember when topless was allowed; certainly not in the last 25 years in the UK to the best of my knowledge. It used to be permitted in USAT races in the early/mid 90s.

Someone’s live tweeting this race yeah?!

If the weather stays like this, Poet might be a DNS!

Just seen the weather warnings on the BBC website for heavy rain, flooding and thunderstorms. Could be an interesting evening in the Caravan tonight then.

2016 was like it is now, biblical at times. I wore an aero jersey over a vest for the swim/bike; the jersey took me ages to get off in T2, it was so wet! It’s not forecast to be quite that bad on Sunday morning, ay least early on. In years past you could park on-site, and sit in you car before/after, but now it’s in a field about 400m away and there’s basically no shelter around the transition area.

Thinking about it, I may as well pack my Castelli Perfetto Light & Sportful aero Gilet, both of which are very form fitting for Windstopper (awesome bits of kit). If it’s dreadful weather, aero won’t matter as much. I’ve raced in my Perfetto jersey a couple of times in early season pool Sprints.

If the forecast is to be believed it should clear up tomorrow afternoon and the wind will have dropped by Sunday morning. I don’t think it’s going to be cold, just a question of how much rubbish is washed onto the roads today and if the lake run gets muddy.

I’m sure like Roth, they will have road-sweepers out on the course to sort that :joy:

If its cold i might crack out my original green tritalk cycling jersey to nail my colours to the mast. Means you’ll be able to spot me easier when you lap me

Good shout on the Perfetto! I’ll whack mine in.
It’s only short sleeves, but far less flappy than my LS jersey.

Forecast is currently okay
