Doping in UK vs elsewhere

We’ve taken the scenic route

Tyson Fury is a doper, that was my way in.

John Button and my dad did business together for quite a number of years and I knew Jenson during his European karting days. Looking back at what they went through not many would have stayed the course. John went bankrupt a couple of times and they would head off in the van for a European race weekend knowing that there was no money for the return trip. I often wonder how many other families go through the same sacrifices and never get the results/breaks.

Yes true, started from humble beginnings with his dad pulling 2 jobs to give him a shot. I think it’s ignoring the elephant in the room though not to mention that he was also the only black guy in the sport & that wouldn’t have had some significant challenges and I mean in the sport period like drivers, mechanics, reporters, officials ect, until Hamilton it was exclusively a white mans sport. He gets a fair bit of abuse and I find it difficult to believe a good chunk of that isn’t racially motivated even if it not overtly done.
I don’t think he’s the brightest but you can’t exactly blame him for that, now he’s found his feet and matured he is doing a lot of good work to force the sport to look inwardly & diversify, i’m pretty sure he has clauses in his Mercedes contract for them to do exactly that too. I thought it was pretty cool that he tipped up to race a country that doesn’t allow women to drive with rainbow liveried helmet.
The Clarkson post- he’s so on message he must be a twt? total boll**cs from an actual twt!
When you ask people what their actual beef with Hamilton they will usually say something about the way he dresses or that they think he’s such a winer but he wines so nicely, excuse me if i’m a bit cynical.
Non of the pundits from within the sport with 1st hand experience ever share those opinions.

I think you’re absolutely correct there. I didn’t care which way it went (or goes) but found this weekend’s events amusing. I was thinking of Toto Wolff asking “Who is this guy?” … “No you idiot, I said bring a really good barista!”

Or they reference something from 15 years ago. He has definitely matured in and out of the car since he started.

Yep, but that shouldn’t stop people being critical of his former self or his current self for appropriate reasons…

The management of this event was pretty poor…

Many of the causes LH represents are apt and worthy; but some of his rhetoric plain hypocrisy. Each should be judged on their merits without prejudice.

So who’s going to slap down 20 quid on tennis girl, to win 1 quid? (is that how 1/20 works?? Not really a big gambler here)

Well he may not have been nominated for SPOTY but I think this will soften that blow. Sir Lewis…

5% return - better than money in the bank…

Unless Adam Peaty steals it (in both cases I guess)

I went through Monaco the other summer on the train that runs along the coast. It didn’t look that nice TBH. Really built up and packed. Around there is lovely and I can see why people would want to live anywhere along the Riviera but in Monaco itself looks a bit busy to me. (Obviously not a problem I have to worry about :joy:). Do people become residents there but not really live there but some where nicer?

You have to qualify for residence based on income/tax status I think. I’ve been there, briefly :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s a bit like Torquay but with a GP every year, except Torquay doesn’t have an outdoor swimming pool. Both have a harbour, both are built on hills, both have a casino, both have train stations that are a pain to find if you haven’t been there before. I guess Monaco has the Castle but Torquay has Babbacombe Model Village up the road.
