Looking at the current list on oldest people, I would have to become the 5th oldest person to ever live (well from known records.), and the oldest Man ever.
I didn’t realise that 82 people are recorded as living beyond 115 yrs (only three men). 6 of them still alive and the oldest living from the UK (currently 13th)

I went home in 1999, and drove up onto Dartmoor with my parents to view it. Bit of an anti climax as it was cloudy throughout.

I remember pulling a floppy disc apart and looking through that in 1999. Worked fairly well especially as it was only about 75% coverage in Manchester.
I can’t imagine floppy discs are easily obtained nowadays though.

I’ve moved on to finding a location. I’m not sure how high 10° in the sky is, and I forgot to look out the window last night at 7. We live on a hill but houses and trees often fuck up the view of the sunset.
Meta Glasses? 
I’m just awaiting the news stories where all the people who got their glasses from eBay or Amazon burned their retinas as their glasses were just some tinted plastic. I’m sticking with a cereal box, like we did back in the day. 
I’m thinking of just stacking a load of Oakleys together. I have 3x removeable Radar lenses for starters

Although surely you could look at your phone screen (most people seem to watch live gigs through their phone screen these days) and put a filter over the lens (might test that in a bit.)
Edit: I wonder how many people will kill their phones camera sensors.
I’ve just made two pinhole cameras, mkI… two boxes stuck together, about 48cm long, is better than the mkII attempt a tube and box (too difficult to get correctly aligned)
My Son’s made one from a cereal packet; the resulting image is pretty unexciting (but predicatable).
Why is looking at the sun during an eclipse, anymore dangerous than looking at the sun any other time? (which I know you shouldn’t do, but I’m sure loads have.)
I’m guessing because the overall sky is much darker your iris opens up to let more light in, giving you less protection against the bright part of the sun you can still see.
Like when you first turn the light on, when it’s dark and you can’t see for a few seconds until you adjust.
ETA. I once looked at a welding arc by mistake when I mistimed the mask/trigger hoki coki and my eyes ached for days afterwards.
To an individual, maybe not so much. To the state, the NHS, well tempting 70M people to blind themselves could have an impact I’d guess.
A bit like how putting gold into your bloodstream always holds the same danger, but when assholes on the Internet goad people into doing it…
I’m guessing it’s the prolonged looking at it and trying to focus to see the outline that would be the issue.
That and people looking at it with binoculars or telescopes
