Nope not going to be visible here… 50% of the sky cloud, the half where the sun is and its getting thicker.
Only straining your spuds.

Definitely getting darker here.
The bit I found most interesting in '99 was that all the shadows took on the eclipse shape. Still fascinating.
Got some results with the kids. You need to hold it back so it’s blurry rather than close and in focus ![]()
Well, that was underwhelming.
A neighbour has walked out with “eclipse glasses” the first I’ve seen amongst everyone. The sun is now too low to be seen from our road and a cloud has appeared.
He actually had glasses and missed it all ![]()

Thats amazing
(I started with some else) you need to recalibrate ![]()
was always going to be, some settle for 91.8% as in the eclipse, when it is not really impressive if its not 99.9%
Who is coming to Gibraltar 2nd August for the full (eclipse not IM)
Note to self: 90% eclipse is not worth getting excited about. Isn’t there a full 100% in Egypt in a couple of years (centuries?) time?
Very sociable though, all the neighbours came out with bottles of wine. I brought a colinder and a sheet of A4.
I have been saying this for the last week. Not feeling smug… told yer so.
Not sure why the media are bigging it up… go 100% or go to bed… lol… I’m semi joking.
The birds did get a bit confused for 5 minutes or was that just the wife as I ran up the rode as the cloud cleared for 30s
Next year 2nd August, Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal in the south. 100% full eclipse.
That is your best chance in a while on the same continent.
Enjoyed that, was noticeably darker and all birdsong stopped.
The best photo I took you can see the eclipse in the green reflection spot
If I had known it was a full in Ibiza and Majorica I would have combined it with a training camp.
Mrs FP and Lo had a good time, decent crowd apparently. One kind lady noticed they didn’t have any glasses and gave them a pair each because she had some spares from a recent cruise to Iceland.
Mrs FP put the glasses over her phone and took some pics but I haven’t got them yet.
This was the best I managed through my welding mask. I think the fact it’s about 25 years old, scratched and covered in welding spatter doesn’t make it ideal optics.
Its always darker up north…
