Is that EJC having a snooze on the boat
too bloody right…
That’s amazing - well done that man. The swim bit must be epic.
Aw - must be quite nice with the boat rocking about
it’s all pretty epic…
as long as you are not throwing up…
How does one train for a 21 mile swim?
over several years…
Here you go. His account is arch2arcjourney
Wow, that’s something to watch.
Getting into the black sea at 3am… yikes
And he looked properly cold after the swim. And starting the swim with mangled legs- whole thing looks like an incredible physiological challenge.
Even more impressive to watch it pan out. Well done to all involved .
I don’t have all my notes with me…but he swam on 47 of the 52 weeks of specific training - with business trips and a sinus problem stopping it being every week (and that’s actually quite a chunk of training to miss.
The final six month target was 550k with 120k in the final four weeks. I think we got up towards 500k and the last four weeks were 26.7/28.5/29.3/35.4k. some of these weeks included back to back training swims at Dover…
the traditional channel swim training calls for 1 x 10 hours swim, 1 x 8 hour swim, 2 x 7 hour swims, 5 x 6 our swims and 6 x 5 hour swims. We did most of these (the 10 in Windermere) but some were back to back to accommodate the run and bike training.
He swam a fairly narrow line and covered 43k on his crossing…
*before the taper
For his long training swims did he have a guy in a boat alongside for re fueling
you mean me
For some…i kayaked at spring lakes, at Dover he swam loops and we rented a boat at Windermere with me covering the first couple of hours in the kayak (before the boats available)
Lol
EJC
I’ll employ you
Yes I’m drunk
I met up with my pal Jim
You can’t not get drunk with him
It’s impossible
Was too tired to watch last night but will give it a spin tonight
nope, you can’t not never get drunk with him…
different range of charges for that…
