Changes made, more to follow after the weekend no doubt…
Finally a good day for me. Would have crushed it had I chosen the right captain today, came so close.
= The last 30yrs of Cybersecurity.
Is he gonna win again today? Just to show all who’s boss?
This is my quandary. He doesn’t have that much of a gap on the others (Roglic aside); so I can’t see him letting anyone go yet. I wanted to put Yates for today, but he’s only 39s behind, and the others are similar. Vingegaard is only 31s.
Roglic could be a good choice for anyone who has him…
Do you think Jumbo will go for it though? I guess he had a crack yesterday.
Pinot would be a good shout, but Gaudu is riding really well, so he may be on duty instead.
Does Bardet have a big enough gap?
He’s 1:01 behind, so probably still seen as a threat.
Yes.
Direct
Yes
Seriously, between Jumbo and Ineos they have enough 5 riders in the top ten within a minute of Pog.
He can’t cover every attack, they’ve surely got to start giving him a hard time and wearing him down.
My position in the league suggests I know little but my thinking is someone is going to attack today before he does and puts too big a gap in. I know there is still a long way to go but they need to do something
I don’t think they can. He’s as fast as the TT specialists, as strong as the cobbled classics riders and climbs better than anyone else in the GC. There is no terrain they can gap him on.
The alternative is that he loses yellow on purpose (bear with me…)
If a break goes, Cort will be in it getting the intermediate points, as EF look strong without him to protect Powless’ GC position. End of the day? Ciccone takes todays stage, with Cattaneo ending up in yellow.
HOWEVER Pog was beaming last night. He looked ecstatic to be in yellow, but UAE look seriously underpowered presently, another two weeks of defending? Hmm…I’m not sure. so it’ll be all on him to fight for it really (if he’s pushed)
Also - yesterdays stage. 104km covered in 2 hours. Stage wrapped up 45 minutes ahead of the fastest schedule. There are going to be some very tired bunnies today
The speed they can go at when they want to is quite incredible. Wout has to be knackered after his ride yesterday.
When I do my flat 100km route under three hours, I’m properly pleased with myself.
If I do 200km under six and a half hours, I’m ecstatic.
So to see them hit two hours and four and a half (for 220km!) blew my mind
Tailwind - as in the weather version, not the IMJ version.
Is it not #PowerOfTheCrowd ?
My 100km route is 50km”downhill” into the wind, then usually a 50km “tailwind/uphill” back home.
By “hill” it’s like 0.5%
