Sean Kelly seems to think the sprinters will be fine with today’s climbs

Some of my riders have 2 days left to fulfil their ‘contract’.

I see the NTT Predictor has all pure sprinters again.

MVdP today. He has been resting since the TT and will want to answer the WvA display from yesterday.

No.

Ewan all the way; he’s been resting too.

His mouth is the only thing that gets flexed.

I’ve gone off him.
After him quitting races when the hills come, it’s disrespectful to the race.

At least it’s gonna be dry today.

I don’t see it as being a race for the “pure” sprinters unless they’re also usually in the mix for the classics. There’s going to be some casualties through the pave from crashes and mechanicals and the bunch will be split into pieces as it funnels down into the cobbled sectors, so it’s unlikely that any sprinter is going to arrive at the finish with more than one or two team mates to lead him out.

Yeah, I changed captain from Philipsen to MVP yesterday. What an error.

Going with MVP again today because he’s come to the Tour to do something surely?

Our friends at Bet365 are dismissing the pure sprinters today

Agree with the top 5 there. Kung isn’t going to get close. I don’t think Jakobsen will either.

Pidcosk should be let off the leash as Ineos have enough other guys to protect the GC lot.

Trek boys could play it tactically with no GC ambitions, so Mads and Stuyven could work together. Senechal should get help from Lampaert as well you’d think.

Should be a good stage!

It will be interesting to see how Pogacar fares on the cobbles; does he really have any domestiques who can help him? Looks like an opportunity for Roglic and the others to try and gap him for a few seconds?

I don’t see Pog having a problem with the pave. He won Strade Bianchi comfortably, so he should have the bike handling skills to cope with the cobbles.

It’s the “luck” element that could trip him up and that’s the same for all of the GC riders and the classics specialists - mechanicals, crashes, being caught behind crashes etc.
