Favourite intro, solo, outro

All this talk of music had me think about my favourite parts of songs. For me, obviously it will be guitar orientated, strangely, TOOL doesn’t feature!

Intro: Gimme Shelter by Rolling Stones - love the twin delay and quiet build.

Solo: Mr Crowley - Ozzy but of course the amazing Randy Rhoads playing guitar.

Outro: A tie between Mike Oldfield’s Moonlight Shadow live at VHI. (with Pepsi) or Let’s Go Crazy by Prince.

Outro for me has to be the last ~4 minutes of the Perfect Kiss 12”.

Will think about the others.

I’m a bit single minded…apologies.

Intro…welcome to the jungle
Solo…sweet child of mine
Outro…I am the resurrection

To be fair that’s the easiest question I’ve been asked all year…reckon I spent more time deciding what I wanted to eat this morning…

I never get tired of watching Prince’s guitar solo in this from about 3m25

Love the showmanship, the way he bosses the rest ot the band, and the way he ends it by throwing the guitar into orbit.

Not sure about intros and outros.

Intro: Godspeed you Black Emporer! - Dead Flag Blues
(Very close: Joy Division - Exercise One)

Solo: Not a huge fan of guitar solos, so it’s not really a solo but the middle section (between the verses) of New Order - Your Silent Face. Outstanding synth work.

Outro: Joy Division - Decades. Last song on their last album; as a review once said you can feel Ian slipping away. It’s harrowing and beautiful.

(Very close: Swans - Her.)

Replying to me with your choices feels like a personal challenge to seek these out.

Sure that wasn’t meant!!

But I’ll rise to it anyway…

The only mega guitar intro I can really remember is “Money for Nothing”. Then my wife introduced me to “Thunderstruck” much later. I got nothing else at this point.

Oh, The Cure Just Like Heaven is solid and somewhat different.

Money for nothing is great. Especially the build up. You know its coming, but the first time you do not know what’s coming, then it hits. Bamm.
