All this talk of music had me think about my favourite parts of songs. For me, obviously it will be guitar orientated, strangely, TOOL doesn’t feature!
Intro: Gimme Shelter by Rolling Stones - love the twin delay and quiet build.
Solo: Mr Crowley - Ozzy but of course the amazing Randy Rhoads playing guitar.
Outro: A tie between Mike Oldfield’s Moonlight Shadow live at VHI. (with Pepsi) or Let’s Go Crazy by Prince.
Intro: Godspeed you Black Emporer! - Dead Flag Blues
(Very close: Joy Division - Exercise One)
Solo: Not a huge fan of guitar solos, so it’s not really a solo but the middle section (between the verses) of New Order - Your Silent Face. Outstanding synth work.
Outro: Joy Division - Decades. Last song on their last album; as a review once said you can feel Ian slipping away. It’s harrowing and beautiful.
Intro: Enter the Sandman - Metallica
Intro: Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Intro: Killing in the Name - RATM
Intro: Seven Nation Army -The White Stripes
Intro: Welcome to the Jungle - GNR
Intro: Lose Yourself - Eminem
Intro: Firestarter - The Prodigy
and one we couldn’t miss after the last few days on here…
The only mega guitar intro I can really remember is “Money for Nothing”. Then my wife introduced me to “Thunderstruck” much later. I got nothing else at this point.
Oh, The Cure Just Like Heaven is solid and somewhat different.
