Froome and G out of TdF

Im shocked

Too many chiefs in the team. You probably only want 2-3 Grand Tour GC riders in a squad right? Movistar had the same issue.

Cannot ever see Froome hitting the magical 5 now.

Given the circumstances of last year’s TdF win, I think thats a touch of overconfidence in Bernal. I reckon theres a reasonable chance it wont work out and having either F or G there would be the wiser move.

Think it was clear Frome wasnt going to be in. He hasn’t looked great. Shame about G though, would have thought they would want him as back up.

This feels like Brailsford stamping his authority. Carapaz is his safe pair of hands for this year’s Tour.

There’s also another thread ready discussing this

I really don’t get the surprise in Froome, he is riding like he’s wearing a Barloworld jersey. Thomas clearly isn’t in form either. Bernal is their best bet IMO, with Carapaz as backup/super domestique. Fact is JV look in excellent form so Bernal maybe not winning doesn’t mean Froome or Thomas should be there.

Who is waving the flag for Blighty then…Yates?

No Cav either, you’d have to think his stage wins total has topped out now.

Jeez.

Anyone up and coming through the ranks, or is that our golden age in Le Tour over for a generation?

Done I would think, South America is where it’s at these days for the grand tours

Adam Yates? Tao Geoghan Hart? Tom Pidcock?
