Garmin questions

What metrics do you have for marathons? I normally have

HR
Lap pace
Distance
Timer

I feel like swapping one for average pace so I know what time I’m on for.

Problem with that is the course you run and/or your garmin will invariably be out of sync. So you can think you’re doing OK, as you’re averaging x pace, but then find your watch tells you your mara is complete, but you have 500m to go.

If it’s a signed mara, then a lot of people manually lap at each km or 5km sign. That helps.

Yeah I’ve heard people do that. My plan is to have a gel and drink every 5k so I’ll forget tomorrow press lap (or drop something).

Just looking into using pacepro.

There is a connect iq app that syncs distance with the course markers every time you press lap. It’s clever enough to realise if you have missed one and will sync to the nearest mile/km.

Can’t remember the name of it though.

Thanks, I’ll take a look. I love messing with things the night before a race :see_no_evil:

Yeah funny old thing, I got a replacement 935 just before the first Lockdown, have done very little swimming since …and it still works.

Interesting look at stats since testing positive for covid.
Resting HR is up 10.
Body battery isn’t changing.
I’ve hardly moved all day.

I boozed and galavanted so my RHR did this…

A race would seem to have a similar effect!

To be honest, it was already raised to c50 before the race from my usual mid to low 40s. That seemed to be the scratchy throat I had.

The second peak today has coincided with me now being on antibiotics for a chest infection :face_with_thermometer:

Oh no. Hope it wasn’t exacerbated by last week’s exertions, though I guess that would be kind of inevitable.

At least it’s hit at a time when you can dial back for a couple of weeks. Hope it clears soon.

This is my covid related HR increase.

Body battery didn’t change at all yesterday, but it’s gone up a bit over night.

Does Garmin Pay not work with NatWest??

Yeah, it’s a pretty small list. I think that’s why a lot of people get a Curve card, as you can load most credit cards on that. I have an old Santander credit card on mine

Cheers. Weird they didn’t mention this in the reviews or I didn’t see it. My phones NFC seems to be fucked so it would’ve been useful.

I’ve been looking at some of the Garmin Metrics in My Day in Garmin Connect. My Pulse Ox is 97% which is at the top end of Green… what does it actually mean though?

Apparently I do beath while I sleep, I don’t move much, and my pulse is about 42bpm and contains lots of oxygen. My sleep quality is good, which may have been due to riding to work and back in sub zero conditions (70km), then swimming for an hour

Its the % of oxygenated blood, should be around the 95% mark. Lower than 92% youve got a problem, but you will probably know about it before your watch tells you.

Its a pointless measurement on a sports watch

Ive tested it a few times. It reveals 95% first time an 100% a minute later…every time…have you got it on constantly?

Only while sleeping - i think it is sampling every 60s

Mine is fluctuating between 88 and 92, but I’m not sure if that’s the little pulse oximeter being rubbish or what, I certainly don’t feel bad at the moment, maybe I should buy a Fenix 6 to find out…

That will be the inaccuracy of the watch, unless you have covid or lung disease.
