Gravel Riding Chit Chat

That’s what I thought. Looks good for ultra groomed, dry gravel.

Whenever I’ve had a very tight tyre, I’ve left it on for a day or two and then taken it off and put it on again. It always goes on much better the 2nd time.

Trickier to do with tubeless and sealant though!

Oh no, I’m not running them tubeless! Just stretching so I can get the latex tube in without trashing it. I only got the TLR version as they seem the most available.

I just looked, the aspero in the garage has about an inch of clearance even with 700’s on, why have they made it so much tighter!

Is this the bargain they say it is? I’ve been way out of the loop and mostly a Campag person.
I’ve never heard of Cues but sounds like there will only 4 group sets from Shimano now?

Not watched that yet. But I’m interested in what they say. And yea, I’m aware the whole video is an ad.

Francis Cade had it on his channel as well and he seemed to be a fan, except when it came to sizing scale and bar width.

Have you noticed how Pirelli are all over YT channels. Clearly got a chunky marketing budget. It’s like the likes of Vittoria, Conti & Schwalbe are niche brands. I’m loving Challenge these days.

I took the gravel bike I built up over winter out today. It’s only its third ride as I’ve been busy finishing my garden wood oven… something that had to be done as even my 10yo asked me, unprompted, “dad when are you going to fix the destruction in the garden?”. That’s verbatim.

I took a few glamour shots. It was either post here or the bike maintenance thread…

It was too hot and I got through 3l of water. I even had to detour up towards Lochnagar corrie to fill bottles out of the burn where I know it’s at max cleanliness.

Half a dozen climbers heading to the cliffs on Lochnagar, a few hikers, two gravel bikers, and a royal Landrover with some folks being given an estate tour by one of the Balmoral ghillies. I’ve seen him driving in the hills before he always waves. No royals in residence at Balmoral Castle as there were no estate police enjoying a paid holiday today. Overtaken by 3 cars, 8 cars coming the other way including the Landy. It’s never busy up here until the summer holidays. Royal Deeside and surrounding area is a biking dream folks.

First ride on the 36mm Strada Biancas; oh they are nice. Max I can squeeze in. Even set my first KOM in probably a decade on a bridleway segment!

Chubby road tyres are one modern bike thing I’m totally into.

The only thing I would cycle to Lossie for is a post ride breakfast at Harbour Lights!

My daughter is home next week and always goes surfing there. I might tag along and treat us :slightly_smiling_face:

All the gravel bros on YouTube are aghast if a new frame released can’t accommodate 50mm+ 700c tyres. How things have changed.

I have a 1st Gen Focus Paralane, I doubt you’re getting much more than 32 in there, maybe 35.

My Endurace is officially 32mm, and the 36s are pushing it at the back.

Tailfin is promoting a 2 day gravel bikepacking event centered around Brecon in Sept. Might be of interest to some…

There’s a 3T Exploro on Marketplace not far from me atm. Right size, for not much money considering. But I think I’d be castrated at home if I got it.

Only downside is it has a 1x Rival group on it. But the asking price is worth it for the frame alone tbh.
