Probably worth getting a medical opinion though - we won’t be great understanding the operation you went through. Sounds like a good reason to use magic shoes in training though and not just save them for the race.

Found a few things via some recent news articles (which I think must’ve been what I read), but it’s all quite generic:

Medial knee cartilage is unlikely to withstand a lifetime of running without positive adaptation: a theoretical biomechanical model of failure phenomena - PubMed - this one is the one I could find mentioning adaptations, but it’s a model based study.

As per the other comments, listen to your surgeon or get a fresh opinion since most of these studies aren’t talking about folks like you who a) have had significant knee issues already and b) are very active already

Develop your running form.

Much to be gained in longevity and performance.

With the caveat that post knee ops need careful consideration depending on what’s left and what the initial cause was…
