Is that from a poor job cabling or just the sweat has destroyed everything?

Sweat has destroyed everything.
It’s taken paint off the frame by getting under the layers, drying, then salting and blistering it up.
It’s a proper mess.

He had to pull the cables out hard, but couldn’t pull through a guide line, to pull the new ones in :sob: because it was all gunked up.

You know where the cables go in on the Exocet 2 frame…well, that’s where my chin is.

I solely use that bike on the turbo.
But sweat may also drip down in real world riding too.
Maybe those £29 protectors aren’t a rip off after all :rofl::rofl:

EDIT: 5 drill bits later and my bike works!!!
Might buy one of those protectors now

Can you not just have a towel over there?
I have one over my bars, armrest and headset. If absolutely dripping I switch it round mid-ride.

Touches the knees and falls off.
I’ve tried that :sob:

i have a massive bath towel, it literally drapes all over, but because it’s so long, i can tuck it away, move it around etc.

I use small towels I got for ‘free’ with gym memebership, usually two. One on the bars and then one on the headset and bars/

I do this as well. Wrap it around the aero bars, over the top tube and tuck it into my bottle holder on the seat tube

yeah I tuck a big towel back over the base bars & whole front end covered and not disturbing my knees

Perfetto Light would be the ultimate bike top for this?

I have a double layer of tinfoil moulded around my stem/headset, to stop sweat from destroying it; as well as a towel doubled-over.

In the briefing email it sounds like age groupers aren’t going to be starting until about 9am at the earliest, and the slower swimmers could be quite late. This will then mean getting stuck in increased traffic on the roads around Ambelside and down the struggle so our bike splits might be a bit slower.

And we need to hang around for quite a while when transition is closed so could get fairly cold unless you’ve got someone you can leave a jacket etc. with.

I think the 28 minute head start will see even the likes of AB struggle to catch one of the better F-Pro’s if she’s any good at fell running.

The FPROs are starting at 0830
MPROs start at 0858, 10s intervals.
AGers cannot start until the last MPRO has completed one lap…12 minutes slowest?
So AGers to start around 0910 and it’ll take 40 minutes to get us through…

…by the sounds of the email, the unofficial bag drop will be by the trees (?) just mark your black bag with a ribbon and stuff.

I’m going to take a crap pair of socks or two to ditch and a few bin liners…or…wear my car key in a dry pouch under my wetsuit and hope the dry pouch works…then just sit in the car

It will be at least one hour of standing around in your wetsuit

IN BETTER NEWS; new cables are in, here’s the damage;

Looks like Skipper is out, didn’t see him on the list.

What list???

Over winter you could sand down that small port area, mask it off & respray. Won’t be ‘perfect’ but will look better than that.

Tbh, you’ve probably spent 2-3x what that frameset is worth on cycling clothing alone this year

Think I’ll just dab some nail polish around it.
That’s what I use to cover up nicks and chips.

Which is exactly what my wife said last night
She told me to buy a new (to me) one…
…I only bought this one as it was £400 and I could resell it and not lose anything if I decided triathlon still wasn’t for me.

This is the final list of entrants in the Helvellyn Triathlon Pro/Elite race this Sunday. We had a large number of responses from some very high quality athletes to join the few places that were available. If your name is not on the list then I’m afraid that you were not selected. If you didn’t make the cut, then I’m sure that you will have a point to prove on Sunday.

The decision on this was made by the PTO and is final. I’m sorry that I have not been able to reply to every applicant individually, but there were a lot.

I wasn’t planning on taking any extra bike jacket, looking at the weather it’s forecast to be ~11°C. Warmer in the water than out of it! Someone has pointed out to me in the past that when the air temp is similar to the water temp it actually makes acclimatising easier.

Yer names not down (Dan ) ya not comin’ in…

That’s an epic looking list!!!
George Goodwin just did a rapid time in the National 10.
Skipper and Fogarty have also been cycling well.

Not sure on the running for them?
Eliot Smales looks like a nice “outsider” name there.

Not enough money for all of them!!!
