Staffs is dead already , you think it might be resuscitated?
If only Alastair had succeeded at long course, things would be very different in the UK
that’s a good point…we’ve had a strong female contingent for a while but it has been insufficient to swing it…
Got an email yesterday saying that the advertised price will be what you pay going forward, no extra charges so unless they’ve binned active then they must be rolling it into the cost.
I’m sure they’ll continue to upsell when you sign up
You’re doing it wrong.
I can pretty much beast a 70.3.
No numbers, no nutrition, no plan.
Tommy Two Gels is what they call my 113 efforts
But taking a is more popular than a 70.3.
So is that the new T2?
Some odd parts around those terraced houses.
But I actually liked it.
And it had a hill.
But the event wasn’t great.
Massive lack of signage for registration etc.
pretty sure I saw maybe two Marshalls on the bike course all day.
Lack of pre-swim warm up.
Goody bag was diabolical. Went in the bin.
Think Bolton70.3 is £384
BTF have killed smaller events with the Race Pass Fee. For me £59 is palatable for an open water sprint. £71 is not. Maybe.
WTF?! When I did Roth in 2008 it was €280.
Is Vernon Kay handing out medals at the finish?
With his Uncle Peter?
And garlic bread for all finishers
Plus some nice tripe. The calamari of The North.
2008 € to £ = £0.80 for €1, so £224.
Or £351.68 now.
Roth is now €729
Update, had the sell on Majorca, Venice and Valencia 2025, the 10% fee is just on the main price
That’s some inflation isn’t it!
That was 280 EURO, and bare in mind the exchange rate was much better when I paid for it in 2007 before the crash! Probably around 1.4/£ so about £200! (which is £314 in 2024)
Comparing prices with 2008? Welcome to the over 50s where things that happened just a couple of years ago turn out to be closer to 20 years
Ask him how much he paid for his Subaru and how much a new car should cost now
3800 athletes at 70.3 Mallorca last weekend. Think there were 4,400 males at St George 70.3 WC. IM Barca had a 70.3 and IM running on the same course/day, must have totalled well over 4,000.
Suspect IM are trying to work towards race days of 3000 minimum, or you’re culled, and targeting ways to get 5,000 racing on a single day.
Hell why not 10,000……
Email to say Bolton 70.3 has just hit 80%. If that’s not 80% of a very big number then that might be trouble too, depending how many people enter late.
What’s the odds they buy Hever Castle tri and make it Ironman England/UK?
After all the Ironman events I’ve done I think it’s only fair they do one a two hour bike ride away from my house.
Rolling starts on opposite sides of the lake, double the starters in the same time period, no extra lake rental fees.
I want recognition for when this happens, and a percentage of royalties,
IronPoo does have a ring to it.
