Ideas for the future of Ironman

So does Austria

Wales has never had it’s swim cancelled or shortened, only absence was due to Covid.

Lanza has never been cancelled, has it?

If it’s especially windy, they might extend the bike cut-off by a bit

Lanza 2021 was cancelled

I only know because it was the year I had finally got round to entering.

Dodged a bullet there too, as there’s no way I’d have been fit for it.

The year Jeff enters it will probably be cancelled too

Wasn’t it postponed due to Covid?

Spooner did it on the new date didn’t he? (Bagged a Kona spot!?)

From memory entrants were offered to defer to 2022 or 2023.

I chose 2023, M50 year, but by then life had moved on in complicated ways & didn’t get round to it.

2028 will be M55 year though…

And you need to use that bike that Rachel bought you

Yes Lanza 2021 was postponed to July. I think that it was the first Ironman race post covid. Then all of the races after the Summer were cancelled due to the Delta Variant of Covid. I actually managed 2 races in Lanza and Roth in that small window

Same. Defo not targeting that for anything…

Got the usual early entries email about Cascais 2027 races.

Followed the link, already 500 euros :face_with_spiral_eyes: entries paused to let the system catch up and should restart soon.

Even early bird is nearly filling them!

€500 for an IM surely not? They were that before Covid.

That’s the 70.3 :joy:

Oof, that’s spendy.

968 Euro for Tallinn

I guess there is a transaction fee on that.

I was going to say thats almost down at Outlaw prices, then I checked.

Its about £50 more.

Outlaw Half is £385.20 inc the fee.

IM 70.3 about £434.80 but without the fees.

I paid €515 for Frankfurt in 2015 (in 2014), that should be about €688 now. Hamburg was something like €550 (in 2018 for 2019 event), so €708 now according to AI.

I didn’t really question the entry costs back then, but I feel like I had more money pre Covid, and since then I’ve had less float.

Yeah I think that’s the full cost, for the current tier.

I only paid 230 euros for VB70.3 and that was nearly the final tier.

IIRC, IM Wales in 2018 was approx £430

Ouch, now 552 euros, that includes local taxes and fees, but doesn’t look like it includes a one day Portugal tri licence which is another 26 euros, Barca had that where my BTA didn’t cover me, but France had a reciprocal agreement and I got a free day licence.

I don’t see me doing many more of the IM brand!
