IM Lanzarote 2024

Great result eh, the tracker makes it look like he had a bit of a chase on until Henschel collapsed. Cant wait for the write up…!

I think Anne Haug may have done it for FPRO with a 9h time.

Wow! That’s speedy!

On my first time there in 2008, Bert Jaemmer passed me on his way to the finish to win in about 9’hours when I was coming up to half way and then Bella Bayliss passed a lap later on her way to winning the women’s race in just under 10 hours

Looks like barely 900 finishers yesterday? Really doesn’t fit into the IM business model, interesting to see how long it lasts.

I think nearly 60 pro’s though, but not many big names.

Looks like they had a favorable day weather wise from the start to end

Favourable weather and Lanzarote Ironman.

No, nope, does not compute. Maybe climate change is real after all?

Not a huge amount of finishers normally, no. Isn’t it franchised or something that makes it contractually different to all others as well?

u never know

Dunno why but those

Ahhh, so just a terrible, terrible 5.5 hour coincidence! I mean it wasa total coinicidence that they had exactly the same ups and downs that athletes invariably suffer during the IM portion of a bike leg.

You flippin cynics.

So how long for swim and T1, guessing they left together?

Tom left T1 at 8:06:43, Lydia at 8:06:26

Lydia’s Ironman Lanzarote Race Debrief: This Was A Tough One! (youtube.com)

By her own admission she was having a tough bike and didn’t feel great. Lo and behold caught her coach and then bike together for the rest of the day

Nobody is that bothered, surely? :face_with_peeking_eye:

Coach and Pro Female athlete
Can’t answer 2nd question…not trying to influence you to GAF…just put it out there for info and discussion

You could say that about anything though can’t you. Especially people who make their money from the sport - coaches and influencers or whatever they want to call themselves/

FWIW i have no idea who they are either!!!

Even though I don’t fiddle with cars.

Or some wazzock waxing lyrical about coffee beans.

So yeah.

Clearly no draft moto’s? That’s pretty dubious, would be interesting to see any photos or comments from other people on course.

Given fourth female wasn’t too far behind I’d guess she is a bit miffed. And a 3:18 marathon isn’t too shoddy
