I said earlier, Alex has always had that mentality that he can absolutely bury himself to the point of collapsing. At the last Olympics he seemed to accept Silver when Blu went, it was his first Olympic medal and a win, remember a couple months before he wasn’t even certain of going to Tokyo!. Today you see the Alex who can bury himself, where he seemed to be shit or bust, Gold or nothing; just a theory. It helped Hayden did a JB, not quite as dramatic but the wheels definitely came off

I wonder if they design and release the park layout ages in advance and then nations build a duplicate to build their routes / sequences on? Or do they all just have to figure it out in the few days after arriving and seeing the park?
I know one of the climbing centres in the UK is listed as the only “Paris 2024 layout” centre

I assume that there would have been a test event, last year, for them to try out the layout? I would have thought GB cycling and all that marginal gains stuff, that they would have had an exact park built?

See now for me that’s exactly what that was.
When Ali won twice we all kind of knew he would all the way through both runs.
The sprint finish between spirig and Notden was also epic, this was better certainly for the casual Brit fan who knows little about the sport, this is the Olympic Games.
Athletes find something they weren’t sure they had in the first place. Yee looked dangerously spent at the end but we know he has done that before
ITU races can be boring at times but that one was exceptional.
