Just tuned in. Is that Ingarbritsen in the 5000m? Loitering at the back. Pace looks quite pedestrian, which may help him.
Hopefully less chaotic than the previous heat.
Presumably after last night’s disaster leading practically all the way, he’s decided to go to the opposite end today
Dodging cameramen now!
That slow heat really helped Ingerbritsen after last night; and played to his 1500 finishing speed.
I don’t what to make of the Mills argy bargy, he seems to be pretty physical with two of the other runners and then runs into a guy in front.
Both GB male climbers through to the finals
They’re all through to the final apparently, bet they wish they’d fell over on the first lap, save a lot of energy.
I remember doing a track mile once. No idea what I could do but fancied 4 something.
Dreadful pacing, 5:32 of colossal suffering. Laid out on the track after, seeing stars, just couldn’t recover like after a 5k. Took minutes before I could sit up. Still possibly the most painful thing I’ve ever done
Always amazed how they recover as everyone must go as deep, if not deeper.
Haven’t stepped on a track since
I did one on a track and fairly similar! Our club do a mile relay twice a year with the last 150m up a drag, tried it once, never again
I assume the best strategy is not go go at 99% for the first 2 laps
If I was Josh Kerr I would simply have run faster and finished first. Occam’s Razor taps temple
He could try running significantly faster and winning the 100m. Earn a lot more money that way.
I think Ingebritsen knows he can’t out kick a few of those 1500m guys and tried to run the kick out of them but as he said post race, he went out a little too hard. 5km and beyond is where his future lies.
Or - run 1500m at the same speed as the the 100m runners run 100m. Quite simple really
all done in around 2mins 30secs then. sorted
d’oh, someone forgot to ring the bell again in the velodrome
