To be fair, the side we will be cycling on is fine - it’s the other side that’s awful:
“Chorley New Road is more than four miles long and is used by thousands of motorists each day.
As a result, wear and tear is inevitable. One of the worst stretches is close to Overdale Crematorium in Heaton.
The council says patching work is taking place at various locations on the road.”
Hardest part of that for me will be going past Rivington Hall Barn…they do a bloody cracking ale (Never Known Fog Like It) that I’ve been two sheets to the wind on far too many times!
Rivington isn’t that great for supporters because cyclists come past so quick and can’t look up to spot anyone as concentrating. As mungo says it’s the pub on the other side at the base of the climb thats TdF style.
There’s a small seed in the back of my mind to enter this but I’m not sure if it’s madness. With Staffs and Wales already planned too I’m not sure if it’s too much?
I know we’ve got a week planned in Cornwall as well but I’m sure that’s just as the schools break up.
