Ironman UK 2021

To be fair, the side we will be cycling on is fine - it’s the other side that’s awful:

“Chorley New Road is more than four miles long and is used by thousands of motorists each day.
As a result, wear and tear is inevitable. One of the worst stretches is close to Overdale Crematorium in Heaton.
The council says patching work is taking place at various locations on the road.”

There’s only one big J on tri talk…

Both versions.

You on the loop today ?!

If so hope it goes well and ride safe …
I did think about it but then saw 50% chance of snow…!

NOPE!!!

It’s snowed here, just, overnight.
It feels like -2 outside, so I’ve utterly wussed out and am going on the turbo for some action instead.

Yep the sky has just turned nardo grey…!

Long static… possibly brick for me!?

Plenty of time till July.

Exactly this!
Anything over 9-10 hours at this time of year is a huge bonus

Better safe than sorry TBH

I’ve now spent too much time on TriTalk, instead of learning about linear regression, so no turbo now either

@Mungo2

Hardest part of that for me will be going past Rivington Hall Barn…they do a bloody cracking ale (Never Known Fog Like It) that I’ve been two sheets to the wind on far too many times!

That’ll be great for them (and supporters!)

Support your local indies folks

The turn onto the start of sheephouse by the black dog pub was brilliant…

There’s more planning to go there this year, I really want to do it, but it’s never going to be my type of course …!?

Oh well none of us are going to the Olympics…
Could be no ones going now…!?

Cough cough !!

Rivington isn’t that great for supporters because cyclists come past so quick and can’t look up to spot anyone as concentrating. As mungo says it’s the pub on the other side at the base of the climb thats TdF style.

Oh, possibly diverting into my world! Why are you learning about that?

CECL and IFRS9 (banking) nothing exciting like epidemiology.

What pub?
Base of what climb?

Street names and road numbers people!!!

Got it!!!
That’s miles from Sheephouse - there’s the whole sweeping road across (with EPIC) views

That’s the start of the climb
The steepest bit is right by the pub, or one of them…

The climb isn’t that bad… going that way… not sure about the third time at 90-100? Miles

There’s a small seed in the back of my mind to enter this but I’m not sure if it’s madness. With Staffs and Wales already planned too I’m not sure if it’s too much?

I know we’ve got a week planned in Cornwall as well but I’m sure that’s just as the schools break up.

I’m doing Vitoria the same weekend as Bolton, and then Wales. My build up half is earlier though, in mid-May.

With the change in bike loop I’m guessing Wales will be a slower course now.

Last year was just silly slow.

FWIW I really enjoyed the whole day, and it highlighted were my weaknesses are.

Bolton gets a bad rep … it’s a shot hole but the support was very very good.

It fits with your race schedule ?!?
