I can’t see why people don’t see it as a destination race? :man_shrugging:t4:

YOU GOT THIS!

We both know IM training can take the joy out of cycling (in particular).

Destination race!

This is why folks race the continental Ironmans…

That tarmac looks shit.

Positive thoughts keep going

This will trigger an auto-upload to strava etc. So it will show the place you ended up lying to all your contacts, maybe before they even know you’re not going to make it back. I’m unsure what’s actually the best thing to do!

I sacked it off.
Sick of getting wet and cold.

Rapha 500 in 5 days?
440km in sub zero temperatures and snow.

3 centuries this year?
All featured snow, rain or hail.

So I quit today.
So fucking what :man_shrugging:t4:

I’m not going for a run either.

Oh, and my nutrition is abysmal.
Managed 600ml High5 and half a bar.
And a Coke and pasty for lunch.

My bottle launched on Sheephouse, left it.
Went back to pick it up in the car…

111km 27km 234W NP (yeah, I’m 83kg and the roads are shite)

Kept the Garmin on for the bottle retrieval…
Average speed only went up to 30.4kmh.

Think I’ll stick to hammering left turns and roundabouts on the plains of Cheshire.
At least I can get 34kmh then

I was thinking of putting in a cheeky late entry too; but I’m having second thoughts now.

I’m just in a foul mood for a multitude of reasons.
Going back up again next month, with my new bars on, and maybe an ISM, too.

Two fools I passed today;

  1. Canyon Speedback 60-80mm deep wheels, about 9 litres of fluid on board and enough spares to open his own shop. Kept jumping red lights, only for me to pass him again
  2. Kuota, neon overshoes, descending like some form of mutant brake grabber.

But, I learned where the speed is lost (descents and false flats)
Just gotta concentrate on those and it’ll be reet.

Get those Black Prince pads; £32.99 is nothing to a man of your affluence (Merlin Cycles).

Ah, sweet!
They’ve also got some new tubulars I want, too.

I want to test the Zipps on the next recce.
Mainly for the A666 part, as it’s 3km and is the only really exposed part (took my 35mm alloys wobbling on Lap 2!) so potential to lose time there with the wrong front wheel (82mm PX vs 404 Zipp FC)

The A676 is a bit rough, but great for TTing.
The A666 is sublime! Doing 50+ Kmh along there.
Managing 32-40kmh on Chorley New Road.
Basically, all of the bottom half is TTable.

PRs all over on strava, plus I managed 44kmh down Sheephouse Lane, which was petrifying in the wet and over the cattle grid with cars coming at me, so that’s easy free speed on Lap 1.
