Yeah, I’ve wondered if IMUK do this?
I have previously entered OSB, 113 and PaceSetter races - all of whom have swept corners and done a bit of manual trimming of the course in the week(s) leading up to the race.

You lot are not selling this event btw.
Mind you, if we’d (@jeffb & @Matthew_Spooner etc) had the chance to do lots of test rides in Hamburg, you’d have heard lot of moaning about relentlessly flat windy roads, cobbles and tramlines. the only IMs I’ve not had a chance to recce are Frankfurt, Outlaw & Hamburg.
Sometimes ignorance can be bliss!
Knowledge is Power, dear boy
Too add. Race day can make a huge difference though, certainly if you’re racing within yourself. I’m sure I’ve recounted my 2-loop training ride in Roth. I can remember the Solarerberg being a very quiet non-descript incline, and I could only hear the sound of cars, my breath and the birds. On race day it was INSANE!
Power is nothing without control.
Really glad I didn’t recce the course. Knowing what the second lap would be like was bad enough
Power of the crowd (and Tailwind)
No spectators this year ![]()
somewhat similar to Heartbreak Hill at IMCH - not quite the same numbers as Roth but still gives you that crowded, TdF hilltop. feeling.
But how will they police that? I’m sure there will still be a few hundred people there minimum. Just no big banners/music/announcer etc?
I’m sure I did see one spectator out on that Dyke road in Hamburg
I did do the WTS Olympic the year before so I could go an look at some of the course, then they changed it
Although they did leave the dyke road in but it went further previously with a little loop at the end.
You’d have thought I’d have learnt from that, I didn’t see the cobbles, trainlines, inferno heatwave or extra 5K coming though
Wise words Grasshopper. I’m printing that out, laminating it and sticking it on my top tube
Just going through the who’s who in my AG and how does this guy get away with putting this down as his name Rookie Iron GBR M45-49 ?? He’s also in the results for the last few years as that.
He’s different.
Clearly not a Rookie then!
So, whatcha got?
Most of the faster guys are in AWA numbers?
(Immediate advantage in quicker transitions, really fair race
)
Loads of the entrants have no previous IM history? (Makes it hard to spot other people ‘racing’)
There are a few “axes” who don’t do the AWA?
It’d be good if they put a “I HAVE TICKED THE BOX FOR KQ” flag on

You mean ‘special’?
Paul is his name if it’s the one and only…
Iron rookie, I guess there could be a rookie iron… a copy !?
Crazy crazy guy, been cycling with him lots.
I like him.
Both…
But yours is probably a better description.
Chill Winston. Focus on your IMUK
