It’s all leading to IM70.3 Doha and Ironman Abu Dhabi. By 2030 there will be Ironman Riyadh; the run will finish up the artificial ski run. Shortly after the sport will fade into obscurity; because no-one wants to spend $1200 to run up a ski slope in KSA in December.
Don’t believe me? IM70.3 Kazakhstan says so.

That’s a shame to see the full IM go but if there were only 840 finishers for a full distance event then that doesn’t sound very good for a company that’s all about the money.
I just checked google maps and for me getting to Tenby takes 10 minutes less than it would to get to Bolton (still just under five hours). Tenby is prettier as well. Not that I have any plans to do an IM anytime soon (although if I did one I’d be very tempted to go back to Lanza and do that).

that the same IM Lanzarote 70.3 & full that not open yet ??? 
I was booked to do the full in Kazakhstan in 2020 - we were going to be passing through on the Mongol Rally at about the right time. Based on the interactions I had with the locals for various bookings and then cancellations I’d still love to go.
Tenby is 4 hours further than Bolton for me. I’ve never once, even briefly, considered Bolton. I’ve worked in the north west, including Bolton, and it has zero appeal to me as a place to spend any time.
