Ah yes found his activity detail - 4.5wkg and 303W avg.
Adding 53W to my 250 might take a little time .
A bit like Zwift it did feel like a race to me, even though I started late. Only half the registered field showed up and a lot of 1.something wkg people to pass, I might try to align my schedule to the pro race again next weekend if Im healed.
I didnāt join the pro race this week. However, riding the course in Race mode, it felt like a typical race for me, where I am late out of swim and catching people on the course. I was pushing really hard to catch the next rider, pass and repeat. Luckily there there was a pretty decent cyclist about 800m ahead of me at the start, It took me 30km to catch him, I am sure that I was pushing harder than I would normally have done. Then with 10km to go, there was a rider, just over 1km ahead, pushing 3.2w/kg, I put in a massive effort to catch him, and passed him 50m before the line⦠he saw me comming and put in a big push with 3km to go, but burned too many matches. It was very satifying in a strange sadistic way
Just tried the 3km as a recovery run with structured shoes and my calf has stiffened up again, so Im trying to loosen it up before the bike. The bike itself will probably loosen it up as it has everyday this week sonIll try the 10k but again only at recovery pace.
Trying to find some release with a golf ball at the moment.
Will be on the bike for the 16:20 mens online race, hopefully no mishaps this time
I raced it as a warm up for next weekends lakesman in lockdown. Just sneaked in under the hour.
It gave me the opportunity to get out and do a 12.5 mile TT out on the road - 29.59 (25mph) Pleased with that. 14 minutes off the leader and six minute slower bike split
I just could not keep up with the gear changes to keep the power smooth, jumping from 50/13 to 34/30 every 30s it felt likeā¦cadence similarly going from 80-120, watts over 300 over 400 at timesā¦and so averaged only 232 for 1:05:38
It was mentally very challenging, constant 8% climb followed by 8% descent. Found best way was to grind up the climbs, standing, then spin like mad sitting. My NP was only 1w higher than AP, but really needed to adapt riding.
Was really pleased that I was only 3mins slower than Skipper.
Finished the 10k run and actually my calf had started feeling better the longer it went. Incredibly slow, and all heel striking, but hopefully didnme some good.
Also, looks like I only lost 1min15 to the mechanical but it felt like forever with the whole pack passing
I think for once the power graph accurately depicts the wayward application of power - you live an learn, at least I can practice on this course whenever I want but I suspect my 80kg exacerbated things!
I may take this a little more seriosly for the next 2 weeks. 2 5th places, puts me second overall in AG. Next weekend is 70.3, which should suit me better than 5150
I suffered this weekend due to lack of taper, I felt that my performance was just a little bit off
Sam Gyde has won both events so far⦠however, he is a triple AG Kona winner. He has only been a couple of minutes ahead on each event, I am quicker on the bike, but he is destroying me on the run
