I’d just assumed there was no chance.
My friend said they can’t defer a deferral anyway as it was from 2020.
Is it really worth asking? Would I need to mention covid fear or just the injury?

Yeah, me too. Regular OW swimming is the other thing.
I’ve been pretty good on that front.
At least once a week for a while now
The IMUK team were really accommodating this year. @Mungo2 got a deferral in the last week before the race I think. I’ve heard people mention that being more flexible has been one of the criteria for IM to get some race approvals
I think mungo got his deferral two days before race day didn’t he?
Definitely worth a shot
That’s pretty cool given the revenue they’ve lost in the last two years.
For sure. And I think even if they go ahead, having a slight reduction in numbers is probably helpful to them in terms of making distancing at the start a bit easier
Post up on FB page - Wales FM saying as long as IM provide a detailed risk assessment thing and can race with enough social distancing - Which I imagine they’ve already managed in previous races…
deferral request sent. Fingers crossed.
Deferred two days out, I know people slate it, and rightly so sometimes, but one fella was literally packing his car in Suffolk/ Sussex… ?
Some foreign place anyway, and got pinged by track and trace.
He posted this on IMJ and a few hours later said that IM had allowed him to defer, someone else told a similar story with the same result.
Fair play, one guy who has probably saved me a monkey posted he had just deferred as he hasn’t trained enough … bit shit but very honest I guess.
He was allowed too, I mailed them and they mailed me back, I’m on the start list for 2022.
I swam today pain free and hopefully a steady jog on Sunday… it was 100% the right decision I would have DNF for sure.
Bolton council insisted on this in case of a covid outbreak and athletes still wanting to race or loose £500 or so I’m told.
I was surprised to be honest, but the medical scare I had didn’t really care at the time.
Not sure if this applies to other races ?!?
Good luck.
I think part of the condition for going ahead was to allow deferrals so people with symptoms or t&t pings weren’t tempted to turn up. Don’t know if this still applies to an event held post the grand opening?
Also might mean it’s easier to get a deferral last minute - I’ve got symptoms, I have to isolate, than it is to get one now because of injury.
FFS, it’s off
Livid. Can’t even go back to Vitoria-Gasteiz now, due to the fact we booked a full week in Tenby as a non-refundable stay
for realz?
Yep, just got the email
boo
Need to delete my earlier post, and book new accommodation!
I’m pretty happy about that to be honest. Might get race credit , I assume I can still use it in Wales over next 3 years anyway.
Bollocks
Should have gone for outlaw
Well I imagine getting into Wales 2022 will be all but impossible now?
