Dave the dentist was a tt member for the day ( he doesn’t know ?! )

It was a great race to track/ watch through pics and comments.

Funnily enough there was a TriTalk lurker taking part who gave me a cheer while he was running .

Hope you had a solid day mate :+1:.

The race next year is late, 22nd September, nearly 3 weeks later, it will be quite a lot darker and the chances of it being warm are very slim!

wow!

I’m still catching up slowly with this thread. Sorry to hear about your foot @adam. Definitely the right decision but that doesn’t make it any easier. Hope it heals quickly.

Just saw a post, that was supposedly from someone at IMW regarding the swim, nearly everyone was swimming slower on lap 2. The current was building on the back straight going the direction we did, and was getting worse with time (tidal charts show it), so slightly stronger for the shit swimmers like me.

That adds up for me, as I didn’t feel like I faded at all. I am a one pace swimmer, but my 2nd lap was much slower, yet I swam much more smoothly with less people to have to swim around.

But I very much stand by the fact that people have to be prepared for these things in the sea! The sea was so ridiculously calm and warm, that you can’t then go and whinge about a bit of current as well. If it’s choppy and that direction, they’ll all have an even bigger meltdown!

Last night I dreamt I tried on my Stolen Goat trisuit and it was too big for me. I think this is related to my mulling a Super Vet comeback. Dangerous times

Harald is probably glad he’s got 6 years on me.

I wish I could swim at “average” pace!
The only good thing is I’m not getting any slower… ish .

I’m 70 kilos now … tri race weight

Yet I still can’t get my prison service sleeveless one piece tri suit on?!

All this “ cross fit “ type stuff means the zipp won’t close ……at all?!

Outlaw next year? I had an eye on Bolton as I will be 55-60 AG and all the time in the world to train now.

A half doesn’t cut it though.

When I lived in Godalming, I’d often be running along the canal and end up alongside some rowers. If they were a single or double it was usually not a problem and oarsome foursome would see the HR rise. considerably!

I was 40mins for lap 1 and 45mins lap 2. Looks like I was 30s/100m slower on the back straight on lap 2.

I built this nice chart to see how much longer lap 2 takes based on lap 1 swim pace - assuming a current of 1 kph

Outlaw? NO THANKS.

Olys or 70.3 is where it’s at for ‘enjoyment’ for me. Of course Olys aren’t popular, because they (quite fairly) put more emphasis on the swim.

I always preferred Olys. Yes because I was a better swimmer and that worked in my favour but they felt just right in that you could turn the taps on a bit and didnt have to hold back too much or pace yourself because you werent going to be out there for hours.

I had a great race with a club mate in an Olympic, he was a way better runner than me, and a marginally better cyclist, but I destroyed him in the swim and took about a 5 minute lead. He was winding me up before the race about how he was going to win and he didn’t. I took the piss for years after
