Talking of which; the Swiss flag by your name in Tenby was noted Matt!

As far as I know he’s actually English but moved and grew up in France from an early age

His parents moved over there decades ago to setup a triathlon camp.

Classy touch, that Lange hung around for 40 mins to welcome Frodeno home.

ā€œMy heart is Britishā€ - S Laidlow, yesterday

I think that as PR though, he’s proud to represent France and fair play to him either way.

Lange looked so good on the run, I’m utterly jealous. I reckon next year at Kona could be his if the Norwegians stay away.

Laidlow
Must be over the fucking moon

I’d have showered, packed the car, driven home and had my feet up with Countryfile on after that time.

:joy::joy:

Anyways, Laidlow, doesn’t look like he’s dual nationality from his site or Wikipedia. Think he’s just French :person_shrugging:t3::fr:

I didn’t realise that Laidlow came second at Kona with the second fastest ever time. That’s gotta hurt!

RVB was 12mins faster than his Nice winning time in ā€˜22, he’s got a lot to be proud of

Anyway, how are Jeff and TRO?

30° out there, can’t imagine how T2 feels.

I always race as ā€˜AUS’ because that’s the nationality I feel closest to and the country I lived the longest in. I was the fastest Aussie at Dartmoor in a Day yesterday

TBH if it’s ā€œonlyā€ 30C that’s probably a lot lower than it usually is in the June/July race slot :man_shrugging:

The sun will be lower in the sky too, so there might even be a bit of shade later in the run too

Jeff probably spent some time in T2 putting coat and gloves on

To get Swiss citizenship it really helps if you represent Switzerland in sporting events…. Even better if on the podium

Par for the course in most continental Euro summer events!

As long as you don’t come crawling back for a hip replacement on the NHS in 15 years…

(isn’t that why most expats come back in the end)

The finishing straight looked a bit ā€œregular Ironmanā€ to me and not a patch on the length and grandness (if that’s a word) of Kona. There wasn’t even a Qatar air plane on a wire flying backwards and forwards. Missing a trick there.

One reason for staying in CH is the quality of healthcare

@TROSaracen and @jeffb are having great races. Bike course looks tough, both are running well
