Ironman Yorkshire šŸ˜

Leeds will be lumpy bike and the run will be rolling I woild have thought

Would expect nothing less from Yorkshire.

Itā€™s been lumpy AF on the rare occasions Iā€™ve ridden there!

to me this was one of the main ATTRACTIONS of Bolton. Itā€™s super USP! Not much use for first timers or weaker/heavier cyclists tho, or those chasing shallow glory times rather than relative positions. Glad that Leeds will be similar. As it should be in YorkieLand. :sunglasses:

Bagsy the swim.

Well, not going to lie, this has piqued my interestā€¦

Iā€™ve just caught up on the ā€œFuture of Ironmanā€ thread ā€¦

ā€¦ Iā€™m sure @pacha knowd WAY more than I do, but my memory of running around Leeds is that itā€™s surrounded by massive A roads, DCs and motorways :woman_shrugging:t2:

Going east is crap, flatAF and power stations
Going south from Roundhay? Nope. Pure city.
Going west? Again, the M62 conurbation.

So north is the only option.
Iā€™d reckon itā€™ll go up White Ridge Lane to Harewood house (ish) then up to Harrogate and out to Ilkley and Otley for a few loops around the Chevin, Bolton Abbey, Harlow Carr (Zwift Harrogate course) and Blubberhouses etc.

Back to Roundhay then a jog into Leeds centre for a split transition. Whilst being heckled by guys whoā€™ve missed leg day wearing BooHooMan all black outfits with silly wedge haircuts.

Also,
Putting it on the same day as Outlaw isnā€™t an accident. Theyre wanting to drive them out of business and get the 500 odd people who do Outlaw on a every few years or so basis (of which, I am one)

Great :roll_eyes::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Spot on. I think the bike route although they will likely have to at least partially cloase the A59 but that is a fast road (for cars) rather than busy, especially at the weekend. Could go up towards Greenhow and across to Grassington and then back via Bolton Abbey. I suspect youā€™re route means fewer road closures/traffic management. Could go East but it is dull and the roads are busier that way.

The run sounds like it will be laps of the park and I wpuld guess use a section of the ring road. They do that for the Leeds marathon and half marathon. But obviously this would be a different secrion. Itā€™s nice around Roundhay Park but Seacroft :scream:.

The park is pronounced as Roundy for those not familiar with it. ā€œRound-hayā€ is for outsiders

The half marathon is also awful :see_no_evil:

I did it. Once.
Quite fun on the motorway / dc part coming into the finish, though.

Clumber/Worksop half is one of my faves.
Wilmslow strangely fast.
Blackpool is dullAF.
Nottingham far too busy / charity / fun run esque.

Anywaysā€¦ LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS

Agreed, we all know what iM are up to with the same date. Donā€™t really think thatā€™s fair and pretty shitty of them.

I will very likely do the relay for next year, was maybe going to do the Outlaw aqua bike. I will probably do another Outlaw though. I age up in '26 and was thinking a Nice and Outlaw was doable.

Part of me is really tempted. I went to uni in Leeds. I was actually born in the LGI not that we ever lived there. And the logistics of IM Leeds would be so easy. But part of me thinks like Poet and I fear that itā€™ll be a bit grim, poorly supported, bad course, poor roads, mucky lake yada yada blah blah. I wish Klagenfurt wasnā€™t such an epic driveā€¦

Iā€™m 50/50 teetering on wnter

My nephew and his husband live in Leeds, not sure where but I donā€™t think even the lure of free accomodation would get me excited about going to Leeds, for anything

Apparently, my nephew lives in Pudsey, wherever that is!

Locally pronounced as Putt-sey, itā€™s quite a nice area.
