Joe Skipper

Sorry - are BTF saying they won’t agree his licence until he pays them some money or he settles the pool court case?

I’m trying to work out if the 2 things are connected
:man_shrugging:

No connected, he ows BTF something like £250 for entry fee for a race - apparently BTF don’t cover entry fee for pro triathletes

Hes not part of the performance programme or adds to their funding or profile so no chance that they will pay his race entry.

OTOH they are more than happy to tout his (and other long distance pros) good performances

And you think thats worth funding his race fees?

It’s true, I did the same maths before him when I had money

I get the same symptoms when financial responsibility is mentioned

Has anyone else listened to the podcast? Did you think Joe was a bit “1980’s” discussing the members of Tom’s old swim club?

Yes I did listen, any fully agree, Joe’s comments didn’t feel remotely appropriate for a public podcast - if I was a potential sponsor I would be thinking that it’s not worth the risk

Dreadful, came across schoolboy ish, borderline homophobic if you ask me. I switched off not long after that.
Also his comments on BTF werent a great look.

I usually like his DILLIGAF attitude but not impressed with this, went too far.

Is this the hospital one or the bailiff one?

Bailiff.

Sounds about right - bunch of funded pen pushers - sounds like creative Scotland

The soap comment?

I noticed the other guy didn’t join in laughing at that point

It’s the sort of thing I hear in the crewroom every time I walk in; but that’s considered a safe space as there’s basically zero diversity atm.

It was a crap episode, inappropriate for its purpose but I didn’t think there was any -a phobias in there. I was more worried that he’s defamed the guy he just lost a court case to, and mocked the judgement. A real double forehead slap that.

Maybe not technically or in malice but in the world we currently live in there would be a lot of people able to take a lot of offence and accusations could be made. If he were a footballer it would be front page news IMO

Yeah I was like - wow - that guy’s business was getting a mauling. When is it defamation or slander or whatever it’s called?

Legal difference is between when you say and when you publish it. Cant remember which way around it is, which one applies.
