Kona 25

There was a close Kona finish not so many years back wasn’t there? I can’t remember who though.

Dave Scott and Mark Allen is obviously the original ironwar.

Not seen a “ close “ finish for a few years, I know Chrissy came along way from behind after her crash year.

A real sprint finish mens or ladies race, would be brill.

It might be boring but it’s the most famous triathlon course by some distance and has some serious history, I think they should keep it

I had one chance to go and don’t regret for one second not doing so.

If I get fit again and get another chance in 55-60 I won’t go then either, it’s iconic and magical, I can afford to go but there is quite simply other things I’d rather spend my money on.

A 200 bhp smart car for one!

Maybe I’m thinking of the HIM WC?

Lange overhauled The LION quite late in one of his wins - although the catch and pass had been obviously coming for some time so there wasn’t much tension in the outcome. I just remember Lange gliding effortlessly past while The LION went from hitching and gurning to Uber hitching and Uber gurning for all of about 3 meters trying to hang on.

Macca and Raelert was probably the last genuine classic, 2010.

70.3 WC in Port Elizabeth a few years ago was a good one wasn’t it?

@Matthew_Spooner that’s exactly what happened to me. Try not to sweat about it too much, they’ll get it there eventually.
I was rubbish at not sweating about it and got myself worked up into a frenzy but then it all faded away when the next morning I was swimming off the famous pier!

I’m in Singapore and the weather is not inspiring me to tackle an IM in Kona, pace yourselves!

Bike arrived at 1200 today, so I collected it from Airport.

Did a swim, went a bit wrong with sighting and swam almost 5000m, in a very random set of directions. Need some more sighting practice tomorrow. Was disappointingly slow on swim

Went for 15k run, avg temp was 32.6 on my Garmin, to be honest felt far easier than running in Spain when it was 35+ degrees, I honestly can’t say that the temp bothered me. HR was higher than running in cooler conditions

@SidSnot how are you getting on? I’m planning to head over to the pier again for another swim tomorrow

Arrived too, with bike, although TSA knackered the clasps on the box.
Short test ride today, all good.
Doing the practice swim in the morning (Sunday) then 2houhour ride up to Hawi in the p.m
It’s surreal that I’m actually here, riding on the Queen K.
Woke up this morning like a kid at Christmas
Cheers
