Cracking time and result. Mixing it up with a few pro’s :+1:

Incredible swim time, your time will probably be 30mins faster than mine.

How was wind at Hawi?

Queen K is a touch dull, will be much nicer without cars. Not sure US motorists know about bikes

So what he’s saying is ‘Please don’t do exactly what I do’!

That’s an insane result. Bring up with that many big pros is super ace.

I’ve finally taken the time to look into when the races are on etc.

So a 5.25pm start for the ladies on Thurs. Well that’s not very good for television viewing! Hopefully i can watch the swim and start of the bike whilst making dinner. Then put the kids to bed and do the Zwift TTT. Back in about 8.30 or so. Shower and change, that’s 9pm. 3.5 hrs in. Watch a few hours more, see how the back half of the bike and start of the run pans out. Doubt i’ll make it much past 11/12 as i have to go into work the next day.

Then repeat on Saturday. Trouble is kids have their ‘stay up late watching a film’ evening. So i may have to be a bit selfish and do ‘distracted dad’ with it playing on the ipad next to me or something. Keeping one eye on the race. Then i’ll see how long i can stay up for.

Sam Laidlow getting some stick on Slowtwitch for banditing the Ho’ala swim and then coming out of the water first, through the finish arch. Not a great look :man_facepalming:

So. Many. Rules.

Makes it seem like a bloody work conference, not the event of your life.

Slowtwitch printed a load of rules.
Athlete handbook has a load of rules/suggestions.

America - land of the free.
Unless it’s Hawaii. In which case do as you’re told.

Probably not the best, no. I think he was frustrated that as a pro he couldn’t get a last min spot - pretty childish response though.

He does seem to revel in this persona of being a bit of a ‘bad boy’.

More naughty child than bad boy!

I found Dan Empfields post in the results discussion thread on ST a bit sobering

Someone said Wow…Monty and Dan 1 and 2 in the M65-69 a few seconds apart

His reply:

for me it was a surprisingly good swim, as i’ve been swimming like dog poop ever since my ablation…

monty, that’s a different story. he was out to the turnaround in 27min. then his pacemaker started firing. he’s got to get to the bottom of that…

Not sure I’ll see much of the ladies race but will hopefully catch some of the men’s.

Which day is the mens race on Jeff? Time… ish?

Hope it doesn’t clash with the big fight at the weekend?!

It’s usually about 5pm isn’t it? If I get to watch the start, I’ve either had an outstanding NC110 race, or …

I tend to put it on the laptop on the floor or sofa so I can see it and then occasionally put an earbud in. The commentary is so poor generally that I don’t bother. That way I am not irritating anyone with it. Thursday will be more flitting in and out until a bit later on, just a normal week day.

As fatpom says it’s on the Saturday and usually starts around 5-6pm I think.

Not sure if things have been slightly tweaked as the ladies are on the Thursday.

I usually see the first few miles of the men onto the run before looking like a zombie :joy:

I’m planning to see both through to the result determined stage. That will probably when Ryf blows past LCB after 75 miles on the bike on Thursday……

I have arranged both Friday and Sunday as sleep as long as I need days :grinning:.

Saturday could be an endurance sport nerd’s super Saturday, as at some point we’ll be able to switch between a line of blokes cycling in a line on the Queen K to a bloke cycling round and round a track for an hour……

Ganna?

Ryf is looking pretty lean in the training vids she’s posted. If they got to the run together it would be interesting but I think Ryf will be a few minutes up by the run.
