Chrissy?
I love Bob Babbitt, he’s such a force for good but I do find his lack of appetite for anything vaguely controversial slightly irritating. You could almost see his butt cheeks clenching when Ruth Astle was talking about her doubts about the two day race format. Not sure whether it’s because he has financial skin in the Ironman game and needs to toe the party line or whether he’s just someone who prefers to avoid conflict generally either way it does make the interview rather one dimensional.
Loving the photos @Matthew_Spooner
Haha yes. She came out of almost nowhere…
BINGO
Her victory was described as “a remarkable feat, deemed to be a near impossible task for any athlete racing as a rookie at their first Ironman World Championships”[4]
She came from Nepal and was the age group world champion.
She won Kona ten months after turning pro and training full time
She has never touched upon that 12 month transition from good AGer, going with Brett Sutton and then winning Kona a year later. In fact CW has always avoided talking about her training afaik; it’s all self empowerment stuff.
Clean…?’
Lol
Nine months later.
“Good AGer” = World Champion
Possibly so but you want to know what you’re getting is EPO. I wouldn’t trust the internet with buying PEDs. I’m not sure an athlete using google would be as effective with dosage, frequency, glow time, etc. would be anywhere near as effective as say Geert Leijnders?
Heredia ‘worked’ with Canelo.
ETA: @Poet just reminded me I was going to say that the ease at which some triathletes are happy to work with a man who raped a teenage girl shows they probably would be morally outraged with doping.
I only remember one interview where she spoke of the Sutton years. It was less about the training and more about ‘why would you’? kind of thing.
I really like CW but it was less than convincing if I’m honest. She’s very driven toward success though in whatever she does. She definitely has the winning mindset, from what I can tell anyway.
How many other people have made that transition, that fast, from Oly AGer to Ironman WC? I know the female field is historically less deep/competitive than the males, but. She took Olympic medallists to school on her first go.
This thread took a quick turn from the lovely pic’s of Spoons and Snot (excluding the trotters).
Bob said the F word?!
Doping would be less beneficial for LD triathlon though right? The TdF is all about the depletion from the demands of a 3 week race, boxing etc is increasing strength but I would expect less benefits for endurance if you assume the race itself has to be clean.
Sure some improvement in training but but less so compared to the traditional ‘doped’ non triathlon races.
IT DID
I am sorry
If CW was any other nationality, we’d all be questioning the performances.
Look at Mo and Brad
Pog doesn’t get an easy ride.
The whole post-pro life also smacks of Lance.
Make amends for what you have done
I dunno.
@doka - Nah. Taking the drugs just helps you come back day, after day, after day. Little to no tiredness. Massive recovery. Just ultimate consistency.
You’ve answered your own question. Yes, it improves training resilience ergo overall performance on race day. It’s a one-day event and is a level playing field in that respect, no-one can dope for the day of the event; so gains out of competition are where it’s at.
Two guys I work with are competitive body builders.
One knows more about steroids and there effects than some books, he knows nowt about endurance sports though.
I would think there are better sources than google, I know two people who took HGH for the mirror not the clock, they became ALOT fitter as a bi product basically.
I’m guessing that with EPO you couldn’t really go wrong, as you will have more blood and oxygen, the two things that limits our forward progress most of the time.
Untill you get caught that is…
Abel Sanchez golovkins long time trainer saw pictures of ginger in early 2017 and immediately asked for drug testing… sure enough pos for Clenbuterol, which is also a masking agent, the WBC ( we be crooks) then changed the rules and gave him a 6 min ban…!
Boxing is rotten to the core, but tri isn’t, I wonder how they would handle a major doping scandal ?
Not at all it would be very beneficial, runners from 100m to the marathon dope to succeed. Improve O2 carrying capacity will increase speed in the race as well as training, increase training volume through enhanced recovery. Sure it wa Dwain Chambers that said the main difference was training x2 day clean versus x3 a day when doping and that was why he was faster.
no doubt about that.
If you could properly test everyone at Kona I bet you would have a higher percentage of weathly American AGers doping via ‘anti-aging’ clinics than pro’s. In the U S of A if you can afford it you can just go find a doctor who will prescribe it. Dunno about other countries.
Quick @Matthew_Spooner or @SidSnot give us a beach pic or something
