Definately a mini adventure. When I planned the ride I used RideWithGPS, put in the start, finish and 2 waypoints and let the software plan the route, in this respect it was a bit of a mystery tour, and I certainly took many roads and bike paths that I would not have taken if I was planning for an ultra race
Absolutely, however, since I start a new job on 2 June, I am not 100% sure that I will get 3 weeks off in August - although I am hopeful
Did another 22K section of the Teesdale Way today. Drove to Piercebridge then got the bus to Barnard Castle.
From Barney there’s a route on the north and south bank for the first half but I decided to go on the south as that’s the proper route I think, there’s a very old historic bridge that I knew was closed as it is being completely rebuilt and the reroute was mostly on road which was more boring than I thought!
The river is almost within sight for most of it and quite a nice stretch, track was bone dry as well.
It has left me with nearly a 30K section from where I finished to the last point that I’ll probably do in 2 chunks at some point.
Piercebridge was the site of an old Roman fort and road\bridge north.
Enjoyable enough though. Also got my eye on a section north of Barney where there’s another bus route to Middleton in Teesdale.

Optician appt?
Even GCN at it…
Continued my challenge of covering the Teesdale Way earlier today, got a train & bus to the other side of Darlington then ran back.
Signage wasn’t that good and I missed a turn near the end, not helped by the path splitting and I picked the route there was some people coming from along with a yappy dog! I did wonder if I should have gone the other way ![]()
Then had a bit of a mystery tour on a golf course which had signs that appeared to be for the route but not sure now. I stopped my watch at this point to look at O\S maps and forgot to restart it ![]()
About 22K in total, I’ve covered pretty much all of it from Barnard Castle to Stockton and some bits on each end, but do have a small section in between.
Stopped for an ice cream and drink after 11K, was pretty glad I did later on as I’ve managed to dehydrate myself again ![]()
Not me but one of the women from the running club did something called running the circle line this morning! Started at Hammersmith as well and followed it all the way until visiting Edgeware road the second time. About 32k in total with minimal climbing. And now I want to do it (when I’m not injured
)
Looks like there’s a group based event in March next year but I’m away and would rather do it in my own time but a Sunday should be fairly quiet if you start early enough.
Apparently she’s done the Victoria Line as well in the past which is a bit shorter.
As for my own adventures they’re mostly over for the year, the moorsbus finished in September and the injury and lack of transport and daylight hours mean I won’t be doing that. I might consider a bit of the Teesdale Way I’m missing though if I can find time.
Presumably they didn’t follow the Circle Line pub crawl rules

The Northern Line would be quite an easy one to navigate south to north because the stations are basically all along the same road at least from Morden to Kings Cross on the Bank branch.
My knowledge north of there is pretty much non-existent ![]()
