Manchester to liverpool ultra is going ahead on Friday. I think with ultras there’s far more scope for managing the entrants and the community.
Centurion’s Thames Path 100 is on - they managed it very well last September - they have all of their permits lined up and approvals from landowners.
No mass start - 300 in the event - within an hour or so of the last runners having set off the field is very well spread out
No showers at the end though so the train journey home could be a bit whiffy
Cotswold Classic / 113 ran under COVID regs last year, so hard to imagine it won’t go ahead this summer. Not many residents close by, and the lake is already open again. The 113 is scheduled for June, if that goes ahead then the Classic must be as certain as anything can be these days.
Yes that was my theory too.
"although general restrictions are due to be lifted on June 21st we feel that, even then, we will not be able to deliver the event in a way which combines the usual enjoyment for the competitors with safety for families and officials. Additionally, the road closure has always been backed by local residents and we just don’t feel it would be fair to invite hundreds of people into the local area just a few days after lockdown ends. "
I think smaller races will go ahead in the UK at least. Might not be as we’d like but hopefully enough to keep them in business.
The Duathlon I’ve entered in a few weeks is over 200 in both races, the first is supposed to be draft legal but I’m expecting that to change.
And there goes Windsa again, so I have my first booking for 2022 already
I see Skipper is heading to Texas to do the 70.3 that I was supposed to be doing, looking like it might go ahead, they’ve still got my name somewhere as I’m getting all the pre-race emails even though I deferred again until next year!
I entered in 2019
Think I’ve already got 3 or 4 next year hammerer!
no draft legal events being permitted currently so it will be non drafting
The RD did say that was likely to change and they’d tweak the format and start. They might permit TT bikes now.
I’m down for the standard race which is non-drafting anyway, but it’s only a bit of fun so won’t be getting the TT bike out yet.
TT bikes are allowed if non drafting - just not for draft legal events
@Hammerer needs to quit winding people up on Facebook IMJ

It’s too easy
if they are gonna whinge they need to get their facts right first
What thread?

Bit of a turn of events this afternoon. Early last year (pre lockdown) I entered Endure 24 for a solo attempt. I couldn’t get into Reading so elected Leeds but logistics didn’t work out early in the piece, so I deferred until this year and at the same time asked if I could change to Reading, to which they agreed.
Only trouble with this year was that it clashed with (my yet to enter) SDW100. On top of that, the email confirming my deferral went to my old Voda account which I can’t access.
So i ring them today to talk about confirming my entry/options etc only to be told that they’ve moved the date and venue. It’s now July 24/25 and somewhere near Henly.
So,5 or 6 wks after SDW100, I get to to go to a party!
Looks like Ironman are confirming their plans. Perfectly fair options there.
I booked a sportive in June, woo hoo. They ran it last year in late Sept. iirc so I thought would likely go ahead.
Yep, that’s all fair and reasonable. Bloody shame that they have only now, decided to act with any semblance of decency, and didn’t do the same last year. I am still very bitter that they refused to do anything that most would consider fair or reasonable for Copenhagen in 2020, and left a lot of people angry… even though the cost to them would have been zero, or near as damn.
Probably not the last but hopefully there’ll be more that go ahead this year.
