Happened for real to a Ryanair flight this week; it was escorted into Stansted. False alarm (bomb scare).
Jorgan, those two Chinooks might have been the ones SlowSwimmer saw on a hillside when supporting a Spine runner. They got some good shots since they were pretty close (that’s SS with his phone in the shot).
Nice black norseman tee on show there!
That’s quite a phone
Saw a spitfire a couple of times on my ride this afternoon. No pictures, both sightings i was going uphill and struggling with it.
Also a very fancy 911 GT3.
Both sounded pretty spectacular!
Rolls Royce Merlin engine is the best sounding engine ever.
absolutely…
Somewhere in this photo are three Chinooks, making a hell of a racquet, seen on my ride yesterday. Also went past the airfield at Netheravon and saw a Red Devil’s drop plane on max climb. Guessing a Pilatus Porter, or similar. Was too hot to hang around to see them drop, though.
Well, we’ll have to take your word for that
Found 2 of them in formation, where’s the 3rd?
About 1/4km behind em - just under the bottom left of the cloud.
It was a fun game - Helicopter or bird
the RAF have been working hard on their cam and concealment…
Do they do subs as well?
Just heard that Merlin rumble announcing the arrival of a Lancaster, Spitfire and another fighter (too far away to see if it was a Spitfire or Hurricane) heading towards Northolt.
Often see things fly in/out of Northolt, mostly it is boring business jets, but occasionally something more interesting like Battle of Briitain flights, C5 carrying Marine One for a presidential visit. Marine One, Ospreys, or Typhoons when they were based there during the Olympics.
Nice. ADSB exchange is good for tracking Mil aircraft to see what they are. Flight Radar doesnt show a lot of military stuff.
Other day I heard the unmistakable whomp of a Chinook. Couldn’t see the bastard out then window but found it on ADSB
Bit gutted (in a sense) I don’t run with a phone. Was up on Woodbury common today when 2 Merlins came swooping in from the south. Sun was out, the sea in the distance and these two badboys flying in above the heathlands looked pretty epic. They did a loop as we were running around a copse and they then proceeded to drop down and land no more than 50m from the trail that we were on. Pretty cool!
They sat there for 5 mins then took off again, and off they went. A nice surprise for our run.
Saw a pair of these flying up Wasdale last week
