Nike Zoom Fly/Vaporfly 4 and NEXT% - The Thread

I got both :see_no_evil:
Had bday vouchers, and a birthday code. Latter not available on the NEXT2. 25% off made the invincible what I used to pay for a pair of Brooks Glycerin, and Seth DeMoor is raving about them as a daily trainer

Are you meaning the white ones? I think they look a bit boring in hands on videos. They’re not silver, they’re just a see through white mesh. They’re also the limited volume original release on the 28th Feb which I guess they are now bringing out in higher volumes.

I’m going for the blue Next% - payday tomorrow though

Deffo silver details

Remember the white see through uppers make Stance socks look utterly ace once the shoe is on :+1:t3:

Same but I’m a bit spent up and 3K per week at 5 minute K’s probably doesn’t justify the outlay :joy:

Birthday in May so might look for a code then

True - but I wouldnt call them silver shoes. Probably semantics. It’s just how I perceive them.

I was also wrong - the originals had black swooshes in an entirely different pattern

My birthday is towards the end of April. I think my discount code will be available from the beginning of the month, but will any NEXT% 2 still be available then?

Do we know why the new ones are £30 cheaper than the originals?

EDIT: Ah read @stenard post properly, seems the discount wont work on the NEXT% 2. Therefore should I use my voucher to get the NEXT % for £180, that seems like a better options than paying £209 for the NEXT% 2?

YeH, they be white, but with silver metallic.
Semantics.

I reckon they’ll look ace one with a pair of patterned socks.
My white ones do :+1:t3:

Ordered my Next%2s this morning and went for the blue/green.

I’ve not been totally happy withy Peg 37s since I got them. They’ve just not felt as nice for me, but have struggled to work out why. I’ve put almost a 100km on them now and they’re no better. Came home today with a massive Blister on the inside of my second toe. So they must be narrower than previous as I’ve run over 6,500 kms in previous pairs of pegs with zero issues.

I’ll save you all the foot porn blister pic! :joy:

They’re not bad enough to bin, but I’ll only do sub 1hr runs them from now I think, and only on injinji socks.

Might go back to On once my Peg 36s need replacing. Or I’m tempted by the invincibles. But that would depend on whether or not they replicate the 37s in shape.

I’ll let you know how I find them.

I’ve been similar with the peg37s. My feet just end up with a funny sensation after about 45mins. I keep thinking they’ll bed in, but they don’t. I’ve not had that sensation at all really with any shoes since I moved to Nike, and I though the zoomx would give them a softer ride. My 36s feel dead now though, and that’s only after 525k. Just did 60mins in them and it felt like running in plimsolls.

Thats where 4% are amazing. They might not feel like cheat shoes anymore, but my originals have over 550k and when I put them on its still such a comfortable ride on feet and legs. I’m in for a heavy block the next week or so. I might revert to doing all my runs in them to try and save some attrition

Hmm food for thought there @stenard. Might be worth those few extra quid for a pair to get me through the next few months if it’ll save my legs.

Aerobically I’m feeling decent, but my legs are feeling the tarmac running as they’re just not conditioned enough yet.

any idea on any weight change on the new editions? Didn’t like the additional heft of the alpha fly so hoping they don’t bloat the NEXT% going forward

According to runrepeat website the weight is 227g Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2 Review (Mar 2021) | RunRepeat

The Invincibles are over 300g which is too much for me.

that’s the alpha fly weight isn’t it?

Oh yeah :confounded: I was looking on my mobile and didn’t realise!

I’ve had a similar issue with my latest pair of React Infinities. First pair were great and I did 900km in them, bought another pair, exactly the same model but they make the soles of my feet burn and ache after 30 mins. Very strange. Like you I thought they’d bed in but after 120 km but it hasn’t happened. So i’m back to a 600km+ old pair of Peg Turbo 2s.

The Invincibles do look heavy!

Yes both. That’s a good description, it’s the soles of my feet that have felt like they’ve been getting a bit of a hammering (plus the toe rubbing blister yesterday).

I’d assumed they’d just messed the shoe up between 36 and 37 but it seems a bit deeper than that.

Don’t know if they have a similar thing but in the earlier days of Hoka’s remember it being quite evident that the shoes made in Vietnam I think it was were narrower than another country (maybe Malaysia?)
