Nike Zoom Fly/Vaporfly 4 and NEXT% - The Thread

Any Promo codes for Nike at the moment, please?

Don’t think so SUMMER21 just expired

yep, just tried up…

If it’s your birthday soon and your DOB is on your profile you often get a code, I had 25% I think but it’s just expired as I used it.

Sadly not…i just bit the bullet…

The Alpha’s are rapid.
Like proper rapid.

I did two 16km runs in the Next% last week at 4:13/km, then the same route in reverse at 4:20/km the following morning.
I’d say RPE here was 6 for this first one and 7 for the morning after.

Did a different route in the Alpha’s this morning.
Just easy.
HR strap is broke and it was 20 degrees, so I’m using RPE and just not paying attention to anything much in particular, just turning the legs and keeping my head up.

Managed 4:32/km for next to no effort, I’d say RPE 4 on the Borg scale.

Amazing.
And it’s absolutely nothing to do with my body absorbing previous training and being better :see_no_evil:

I need to try my next% to compare, hopefully next week when I’ve had a bit of recovery from the weekend.

Tips for sockless?

Ive decided to try sockless in my Next 4% as they are so…snug.

I was trying to lace them up with elastic laces but it was such a hassle and they are so snug I ran 8km on the treadmill without socks or laces, I just rubbed my feet in talcum powder.

I think they only rubbed under my left ankle boney bit.

How did it go?

Is there a way to return for an exchange and still use the bday discount??
Without being blacklisted :grimacing:

Assume you have enough room in the toebox?

I wore my 4%s sockless in a couple of recent events. The first event - just talc and my feet were cut up on my achilles. Next event I just loaded the back of the shoe with plenty of bodyglide and no issues.

You put the body glide on the shoe before the race then?

It was also my ankle/achilles where it bled on Sunday, and under the boney bit.

The three guys behind me were 2s, 7s and 15s back so sockless was the right approach  Despite the blood :face_with_head_bandage:

Yeah, I put it on before. I’ve not seen your report but great to sneak ahead of people like that! I’ve rubbed my feet raw in the past, one time it was wet in toe box, assumed it was water but it was blood! Race adrenaline is powerful at hiding issues!

Ah it was a rolling start so there was no one near me at the finish line, saw how close it was in the evening

As per the training thread I tested out the NEXT% at dinnertime. Was a bit tired after a poor sleep but I thought I’d see how the first couple of K’s went.

When I first put them on they didn’t have the seem feel as the Alpha’s, not sure why I thought that as it was about 6 weeks since I wore them, but certainly not the height or bounce really. But they weren’t as squidgy feeling as the vaporfly’s. I’d say something like the Flyknit’s. Although I wasn’t too keen on the upper.

At an easy warmup pace they also felt similar to the fly’s and I didn’t particularly think I was going any faster.

Anyway, I started the 5K a bit worried about my crap pacing, first K was quicker than planned, slowed down a bit on the second then quicker on the third K. Was starting to feel the pace but still going OK. Last K included a little climb and then into a stiff breeze which deffo cost a few seconds.

Final 5K time was about 19:30. This was almost identical to the Alpha’s, but I think conditions might have been slightly better there. Although I’ve not done any real hard run training I’ve got a bit more endurance from the cycling and slightly increased running distance.

Fairly sure I’m not in that form, but in the flyknit’s I think I’d be just under 20.

Didn’t think they felt as springy as the Alpha’s but definitely more stable than the vapor’s.

They were more comfortable though and didn’t have the annoying arch problem the alpha’s have got, so I’d probably use these for marathon distance.

Shame these weren’t around a few years ago as I suspect I’d have 2 or 3 sub 3 marathon’s to my name, but hey ho, same for everyone of previous era’s.

Will be keeping them and seeing if there’s a way I can use them all without turning into a centipede. Shouldn’t ever have to buy any more trainers though given the lack of races and distance I do :joy:

I would but I’m waiting on two refunds from Nike totalling Ā£350.

They’ve lost one pair already.

The other pair went off this week.

I’ve just had a dabble on these.
Only tried the pegs before… Still not sure I’m right for Nikes, but feel like I missing out 🤷

I’ve had this problem in the last as well. Do you reckon the fact that they bang ā€˜NIKE’ across the packaging might encourage some parcels to go missing in transit?

I got a pair to try. My wife saw them when the arrived and banned me from wearing them when she’s around. They’re certainly ā€˜challenging’ to look at, so can only hope they are decent to run in
