Nike Zoom Fly/Vaporfly 4 and NEXT% - The Thread

I don’t know about “running on trampolines” but it felt almost painful under the left arch yesterday, even if I was lapping 6/7s faster.

She’s doing well for someone who started running late, although I know someone slightly older that’s knocking out something like 1:27’s

TL:DR - NEXT% is fine. Alphafly is likely not. All shoes for elites must have been available for retail purchase at least 4 months before being used in a competition. That now means the general public are going to be able to use these shoes in races before the elites!!

Like a production beta testing programme.
Weird.
Or, just make them so expensive, that nobody can buy them…like the Flyprint 3D…

I see the Wildhorse, Terra Kiger and Peg36 Trail are now all in the sale for <=£80

…now that JAN20 isn’t working, any codes going?

So pretty benign in the end. No one-off custom shoes, but they can be modified (like orthotics I guess). No current shoe is banned, unless there are some mega-cushioned ones not designed for racing anyway.

Nike must be loving all the attention. I bet sales are through the roof at the moment, no discount codes for a few months at least.

As a side, I’m sure I’ve had traditional ‘support’ shoes that have had more than 1 plastic stiffening section in the sole, are these now technically banned?

Wtf!

these somehow seem more important than buying a house… :see_no_evil::money_mouth_face:

Also, they have to release them for Boston/LONDON, surely???

You have to admire Nike’s brashness!

Interesting they’ve gone back to a woven upper, rather than the vaporweave. And of course they’ve dropped both the vaporfly and zoomx monikers. “Nike Air” is almost old school in naming.

As the new 4 month rule kicks in from April 30th, I’d agree with Poet that the week of Boston/London is the ideal time for them to release them. Perfect for the Kipchoge v Bekele showdown

They have to release them for IM Lanza, surely?

Just got the push notification from the Nike app. Said “arriving this spring”

what?!?

I got nothing…need to sort out my London train tickets if it’s like the Next% last year

You are clearly the chosen one. I got nothing from Nike… and I didn’t get any loyalty code from Wiggle either

Who’s old enough to remember this :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

“In February 2020, the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% will become available to Nike members, with wider distribution later in the spring.”

HighSnobiety have all of the drop dates

Offical Nike statement:

45mm stack height?
That must be wrong if they’re legal?

Yeah - seems like a CTRL+C error there, from the old Alphafly

EDIT: Seeing as the complementary training shoes are $200, any guesses on where the Alphafly pricing might sit…

…just weighing up whether I can buy some more clothing/tyres, or need to save it for these bad boys

Needs to be available 4 months ahead of the Olympics if they want elites to use them

I read £320 on twitter somewhere…no idea how accurate that is!

After 6 months or so, I can generally pick something up for a good price on Fleabay in my pixie size. My ZF3s were £55. Yet to be used.
