Novice swimmer qualifies for IMWC

Which is far from “literally everyone”

But yeah, it’s becoming increasingly ‘unaffordable’ for those that would normally have a go, or have done a few and don’t see any value in stumping up that investment any more.

i think we can take that pretty much for granted…

One positive side is that my wife is now interested in doing triathlon, only so she can qualify and blow raspberries at me.

It’s kind of odd - The first story says she learnt to swim 8 months before qualifying, which would be November 2022.

But Cold water swims helped Bristol woman beat eating disorder - BBC News says she was swimming in 2017 “But in 2017, she began to recover after cold water swimming”

I’m sure it’s just the fake news media…

Did I log into Slowtwitch?

A friend has been offered a place at Kona from Wales last year, she did finish 9/39 in her age group so slightly more deserving.

Sadly for her she’s currently fighting cancer

But still dishing them out with 7 weeks to go.

The wife of a friend of mine had an similar email as well. She finished 8/15 her age group at IM Portugal last year. They’re not going to take up the offer.

I seem to remember seeing a friend had put up an invite to Nice on his Insta Story a week or so back for finishing 93/239 in his cat at Hamburg.

A lad I follow on Strava and have met once had the same, although I think he was in the top 20 of something like M35 so again, on the fringes anyway.

Absolute beast on the bike.

I bumped into that woman I mentioned elsewhere - she’s raging at how IM have done this. Pretty insulted by their “offer”.

like most commercial activities, they are not quite in survival mode, but it is hovering not too far away on the horizon…
