They’re only making a living! And getting hunted off orca’s in other places!

But they can eat you. Crocs are even worse.

Just no :scream:

I’d suggest staying out of the water but crocs can survive on land :grimacing:

Megalodon tooth with Great White for comparison :scream:

Ps. They get much bigger (and more expensive) than that one but so do the Great White ones so probably valid comparison.

Highcliffe, The Isle of Wight and The Needles in the background. Water was lovely and no sharks. I’m starting to feel a lot better after an illness that took some wind out of the sails for a few weeks. Enjoyed swimming between a few buoys in the gentle chop today.

Notice how this particular bit of ocean slopes uphill to the right, we probably gained about 30 or 40m elevation

Longest swim so far. Water was 22°C.

ā€œThey’re not vicious, man-eating monsters. They’re just sharks doing sharky sh!@ in the ocean, trying to live their livesā€

Respect for the conservation work. But have to say, I’d find that part of his message more convincing if half of him hadn’t been eaten…

He was at their dinner table and a shark’s gotta eat :joy:

Oh there’s a thread for it

Did you suggest they should all run back to the start to make it a proper race?

I considered it, after I missed the water taxi waiting for the baggage boat to arrive with the last swimmer! Would have involved a 2.5h wait with no phone to contact my wife; but I went back to the bag boat and they gave me a lift across. Apparently a private taxi would be €50…f* that, I could swim it in 50 mins

Did my first ever OWS at Pinkston in Glasgow this morning. Was pretty nervous about it but definitely a good choice to go somewhere properly structured, was about 12 people in the session and managed 5 loops which was probably about 1700m (my first edition vivoactive doesn’t do OWS but dragging it on a walk setting in my tow float seems to have done the job!). And I successfully got my wetsuit on and zipped up myself without ripping it

Took a few minutes to get used to the water and not being able to see anything, but was nice once I got going. Unbelievable what a difference a wetsuit makes to body positioning, everything felt much smoother and looks like a good 5 seconds quicker per 100m than I’d usually be doing over the loop distance.

Felt a bit sea sick after it, not sure if that was the water, sighting too often, swallowing some lovely Glasgow water, or a bad breakfast choice.

Lovely day for it.

I find ear plugs in open water really help with that.

Went there a few times during the first lockdown. When we couldn’t travel too far. Was brill - interesting area. It’s clean and everything. Wouldn’t worry. Yah it’s just a massive concrete basin next to the motorway. It’s cool. Have you ventured out into Loch Lomond yet?

Yup.
Pretty cheap to try. I find keeping any cold water out helps.

No. To be honest I avoid heading out that way generally, so busy and there’s always an accident on the road that means you get stuck coming back! Plus so many people don’t appreciate how dangerous Loch Lomond is, the huge drop offs and temperature dips and so on, and behave like idiots, so I don’t think I’d be able to have a relaxing splash!

And thanks @mw22 - will give them a go.

Macks do good ones as well.

I’m ok atm, but when the water is particularly cold I sometimes use the silicon Hush Plugz.
